Matte Proof Lincoln's for the week of 3-26

A few here and a few there and the next thing you know, we are back up to 30 MPL’s.
For those of you who followed the posted thread about the value of the PCGS 1910 63 R&B MPL being sold at Scarsdale coin, please follow the bidding on the PCGS 63 BRN example on Ebay. As of this writing, it’s already up to $609 – that would be above 63 BRN money and a few dollars short of 64 BRN money. And we got two days to go…

As always, if you know of one that is sold on the list or becomes available, just PM me so I can keep the list as accurate as possible. Till next week.

I gave the 799.98 for the 1910 pcgs63 brown. image I knew it would be overpriced since it was on ebay. But i needed it to go with the others i have in BN. I was torn between this 1910 and the one Anaconda has listed in PCGSrb64. I may go ahead and make offer on the Anaconda coin also. I have 7 different dates now with a few multiplies. I recieved the 1915 SEGS 62 from Northeast Nusmatics and the 1913 Raw Matte Proof 64 R/B from Ira Metzler this week. The SEGS is not bad, strike is good, points off for a tick in his beard (blends in nicely but it is there)

I have 11 mattes now slabbed and raw. This ebay 1910 PCGS is the most i have given to this point. In my opinion the lower graded ones always bring good money on ebay as compared to other places.

Since i found this site a few months back my thoughts are changing. I was looking to do a set in Brown with a Red/brown or 2 thrown in, going for the 61 to 63's. Now i am going to do 2 sets. I have a line on 2 NGC's in 64 red/brown for $2400. I think monday i am going to pull the trigger on those 2. ( there are being held for me) If i change my mind (unlikely) i will post the location and dealer for those that may be interested.

No, just making a point that its a strong price for the date and color designation. Look how it outperformed the ANACS 1911 PR64RB!

A 1914 in NGC PR63BN sold a few months ago for $862 so I think you are ok. I bet this one looks real nice when viewed in hand.

Well, that 1910 did not make it to the Scardsale Price for the R&B example. But my point along with many others is that once agin it demonstrates the PCGS guide useless for MPL's. BTW once in hand, that 1910 may be worth a trip to PCGS for regrade....

The raw 1910 closed at $257.52 tonight on Ebay. Item number 260223947926. Seller (Roofer1970) is given a 60 day return option on this coin. MPL's are starting to tank. It was only a matter of time before guys came to there senses.image

i but merely want to pass that don't be too quick to assess the matte proof market trend based upon raw sales.i'm confident when i speak that i am not alone that raw sales will always appear as a bargain over sales of certified examples due to wisdom that such coins haven't a tpg company sign off.tpg companies are very tough on copper and most know this.i'm considered to be a koolaide drinker as my matty's must be in pcgs plastics for reasons i have the rights to...i pay premiums for such personal choice and stance.

as to matte proofs "tanking" or losing value this is yet to be seen as this week alone one only need but look at price guide to see the sea of green in low end (high end is in line for next adjustment)

my position is one that is long on these treasures as most here and prying my matty's out of my hands would not be at a lost as i still believe these have alot of maturing to overcome as they still come of age

    "Starting to tank"

On the contrary, people are becoming more educated as to exactly what these coins are and the value they have when properly slabbed. Certainly prices will go down on an example most who see it agree is not a matte. On the other hand, prices will continue to rise on coins of quality whose authenticity is guaranteed by TPG.

All in all, a bad choice of words for a wise decision.... not paying top money for a questionable coin. The rims looked wrong, the photos were substandard and impossible to see any diagnostics, a 60 day return period was just creepy, and the coin, above all, looked cleaned and was likely to BB

(PS it is impossible for guys to "come to our senses" We do what we please in whatever manner we want do to it....its a 'guy thing' )

The reason why that coin sold for $257..is beacuse its NOT a matte proof.
