500HR club - what does this do to card values?

Is this significant for card values or anything?

I know A-Rod's "road to 500" cards were popular in themselves, but what about his "regular" cards? Did they jump since he joined the club?

Manny Ramirez is only 10 away from 500, so I'm curious!

Thoughts?

I dont think its going to matter as much with the beating baseball has taken through the steroid scandell. Sosa, McGwire, Bonds are in that club and look at where they are at as far as collectors are concerned...
  • Good call.

Are there other "events" that trigger card values to go up besides HOF election?

Man Ram says he wants to play at least 4 more seasons.

With a few typical years he'll hit 600.

Big Frank says he want's 600 too. I don't know, those 3 or 4 years of injuries really set him back. He may be able to pull it out. If he hits 40 this year, he stick around for another season or two. If he doesn't, I don't know.

As for Frank's cards, I can say there have been more buyers since June 28th of '07 than previous times, but not overwhelmingly so, except for the weeks that directly followed the event.

  • I say he gets to 600 in three seasons. He needs 110 divided bty three is 37 (ish) a year. He's good for that I think. Or near that.

What event was on June 28th of '07 for Thomas?

ARod should be able to hit 600 barring any injuries. He might even be #5 to the 660 mark. Personally, I'd like to have them hold off a while, I've got a bunch of guys I still need to sign my 500 HR club bat. Problem is, a lot of the ones I need are getting older and may not be around much longer (Banks & McCovey). The most recent one I added was Schmidt. I almost got Thomas but the putz wanted $250 to sign any 500 hr related merchandise. Forget that.

Willie Mac hangs out at his restaurant and watches football. I hear that he's happy to sign for guests at his restaurant, if you wait for a commercial break. He wasn't around when my wife took me there for my B-Day a while back though.

I had heard he wasn't doing well lately. Have you heard otherwise?

I keep hoping I'll see him at one of the Chicago shows but so far, no luck.
