Modern collectors have unusual buying habits, I need to bite my lip on some of the stuff they pay good $$ for.

Yep it's him, except his Photoshop techniques aren't as good as before - he's gotten lazy.
<< <i>It's amazing that anyone would think any of his packs are legit and even more amazing that his feedback stands at 100%. >>
Why is this amazing?
Remeber, most collectors (probably 95%+) CANNOT tell the difference between a real pack and one that has been tampered with. Those of us on this board tend to forget that we are far more advanced than most of the collecting public.
just kidding.

I agree. I'm at least 2 1/2 feet more advanced..
Seriously though, it is only because of great info I get from these boards, joking and kidding aside, you guys are great. I think I have saved a few hundred dollars, maybe a few thousand just on the tips and things to look out for from all of you. A few times I have seen something being sold I wanted, only to find out that would not have been a good idea.
And for that I thank you . The education has been eye opening to say the least.

I know what the answer is.
EBAY can enforce reasonable rules to prevent criminals from listing
fraudulent merch on the site.
EBAY makes MILLIONS of dollars on such frauds. Thus, the crimes must continue.
The instant criminal IS a serial fraudster. Law-enforcement should have
locked him and his "grandmother" up years ago.
thanks everybody!

Didn't you submit some packs that were deemed altered?

Yes I did, which proves my point precisely. If someone like me who has been a serious collector for 20+ years can't tell a fake pack from a real pack, what hope does the average person have?

The "average person" should simply stick with PSA-graded packs.

Except that the average person is buying packs to open them, not as an investment. And while you can cut open a GAI pack slab pretty easily, it's impossible to open a PSA pack slab.
I'm guessing that probably 60-80% of all ungraded wax packs get opened, with the buyer just attributing it to the law of averages if they don't get any valuable cards (which is exactly what the crooked seller is counting on).

I don't believe that is an accurate statement. Most of these truly vintage packs are purchased by unopened collectors with the intention on keeping them sealed. There are very few collectors out there (outside of CDsnuts, that is ) with the cajones to bust open packs from this era, as the gamble is very great even if the pack is truly authentic. Before 1970, nickel wax packs contained only 5 cards per pack, so when you open one of these, you'll have one card (at least) damaged by gum, one with a wax stain, and maybe, if you're lucky, 1 or 2 cards worth grading. That's why these sellers are so profitable and one of the main reasons why they have such high feedback ratings, IMO. Because the way to prove that a pack has been tampered with is by opening it (though even a non-collector should be able to see that these packs on ebay of late aren't authentic, they are that obvious, IMO), since most of these resealers use lots of NM commons and semi stars to fill their packs (often with the wrong size gum, too). To illustrate my point, when you finally see one of these guys getting negative feedback, it's usually because the buyer did take that chance and did open the pack (or wax box) and saw for himself that the packs were phony. Of course, some resealers are obviously more skilled than others.
It's also not impossible to open a PSA slab. Yes, it is more difficult than a GAI slab which you can open with scissors (watch out plifter, lol), but with a bolt cutter or a dremel it can be done without too much effort.

<< <i>Kinda lazy in the descriptions, on the 69 FB packs he states there are 5 cards per pack when the pack itself states 12 cards plus 1 mini album per pack in really large letters. >>
How can people be SO stupid NOT to see that. Its very clear in the picture and description. Multiple packs sold for over $100.00.

When I was a "young expert," I admit that I sort of had that same view.
As time passed, I came to understand the difference between
trust and stupidity. MANY of the little collectors on EBAY are
just starting out --- or, they are just getting back in. Casting
blame on them for trusting that EBAY would NOT allow/encourage
THEFT, is far from fair.
If too many victims get blamed too many times, those of us who
peddle collectibles will find our pool of customers draining fast.
Law enforcement needs to start treating FRAUD in collectible dealing
as the CRIME that it is. EBAY needs to get out of the RICO games,
and begin CLEANING HOUSE.
If I was in charge of that division of EBAY's T&S, I would get the job
done in a MONTH. So, please do NOT tell me that it cannot be done.
It is NOT being done because EBAY profits from the ongoing CRIMES.
That may be true, however no one deserves to be ripped off.
