37 Wheatie...great strike with Toning...

I was at my Mother in Law's house for the Easter Holiday and my wife has been cleaning out her old bedroom over there. She had a jar of change so I started sifting through it after dinner. I found some Silver and a couple Wheatie's so it was well worth my time. One of the Wheaties was this one....a 1937 no Mint Mark. There is a great Strike on it...as well as some nice toning. This is probably my best Wheatie to this point...anything special....or just a nice looker? Thanks for looking!

    Dude, lighten up - it was a change jar find. Pretty cool in my book.

    Hopefully the green isn't verdigris.

    Very nice..... haven't seen a circulated Lincoln from the 30's with that much hair detail in any of my wheaties!!!! BTW- I would get some acetone on the green... image

    Thanks everyone! I was pretty excited when I saw this one in the jar...never pulled a Wheat in this kind of circulated condition! When applied will the Acetone have an effect on the toning or will the toning not be altered by using the Acetone.

    It shouldn't effect the toning.... but there's no 100% guarantee in anything.

    Nice coin.

    If you use acetone, use USP pure acetone. Otherwise, an impurity could precipitate on the coin!!!

    Pure Acetone won't have any effect on the coin. It will clean it up a bit, but it's not cleaning in the negative sense that we think of regarding cleaning.

    It should help out with the verdigris.

    You may need to help it along with a Q-tip.

    I'm pretty sure that's verdigris, hopefully it hasn't damaged the surface.

    Nice find. If the surfaces aren't damaged, then it's a very nice find.

    I don't think Golden Eye meant anything by "nothing special". The OP asked if it was anything special. He simply stated, no but it's a decent AU find. No harm.
