    Your camera's focus point is set to the background, not the center object.

    Yes, your camera is focusing on the background for the most part. Go to a solid color like light grey or
    even black. I use a T-shirt that is black and it works very well. Here's a HK19 reverse on a solid color

    Good question, my camera is a cheeeep $50 ebay used Fuji, but it does have the macro
    focusing (the flower). Works ok for me.

    Read the manual. Mine has the ability to adjust the focal point from right, left, average, center, etc.
