That would be Doak Ewing's outfit. While he deserves credit for tracking down and restoring a lot of this old footage, he is a pain in the a** to deal with. I'm in this hobby and get stuff through trading but that is one thing you never want Doak to know about. He likes to go off on those of us who don't want to pay his prices and would rather trade for the price of a blank dvd. And that's not to say I haven't paid in the past or wouldn't in the future for something I really wanted. I just don't like to be lectured by someone. Deal with him at your own risk.
Here's a sample of world series highlights, not sure what you're looking for exactly but it's a start

<< <i>I recently bought some 1971 world series dvds, the quality was crap as they were bootlegged but the price was cheap - $35 for the whole series of 7 discs.

Well making a copy of a dvd if done correctly will not knock down the quality. It all depends on the source used. Not sure where the person you bought these from got their footage but it doesn't sound good.

They're dvd's made from the TV broadcasts in the 70s. Not so good.
I did recently buy the complete set of DVDs from the 1979 series, pirates vs orioles. They arrived yesterday and they're in the original box, if they aren't protected I might be able to make copies of those if wanted.

Well sometimes that is all that exists so the love of what you are collecting takes a front seat and the quality takes a back seat. There are some very nice tv broadcasts that are circulating thanks to someone taping them back in the day. The main issue is what generation is being put on dvd. If some guy on Ebay transfers his 5th generation video tape to dvd and sells it, it will most likely not look that great. That's why it's nice to have connections who try to locate the best possible sources.
<< <i>I would look at RareSportsfilms as previously mentioned, I've bought a couple dvds from them and was pleased. The owner also sells his items on E-Bay. His dvd's are not bootlegged.

Well he owns them so he is considered the source which also brings up some copyright issues but I guess he's been doing it long enough that the powers that be must not care. All I'm saying is that a proper copy made of what he's selling will look exactly the same. Some folks don't want to pay his prices and like to trade instead which drives Doak crazy.
<< <i>Do you mean actual games such as old TV broadcasts or just highlights? I believe there are only a couple of full games that exist from this era. >>
Yes, I'm looking for actual game footage..However, I'd also be interested in highlights, documentaries, or even something like Home Run Derby...

RareSportsfilms used to have their items listed on E-Bay at a starting bid that was much lower than the websites price so you can catch a break there. I don't know if they still do that.
Mike
That would be awesome !
<< <i>I'd like to see a complete game with Mantle or Mays. >>
Some of the '57 series is out there

i think we should institute a friendly trade ring of these classic games amongst each other like they do with bootleg concerts.....i got a lot and i want even more!
the 50s-60s games, in full broadcast, are out there, just gotta know where to look. i'll let y'all know when i get them....and there's lots!

I hope you are right. Where should I look?
I recall watching the entire Game 7 broadcast of the 1968 World Series on ESPN classic. The picture quality was awful (I think some took a camera and filmed it off of a B&W TV set).

that's actually what they did back in the day. they filmed the live broadcast by running the recording kinescope in front of a B&W tv screen. but as technology advanced, and tape came along, the transferring process became higher quality....
Wasn't there a guy at the National last year that had games for sale?
Edited: To ask another question.
What I'm selling
Building Sets, Collecting Texas Rangers, and Texas Tech Red Raiders
ex girlfriend. When he heard my daughter crying he asked if my ex was my wife and she said no. He then lectured her about how
we were living in sin and all that. That was the last purchase from him.
I have a few old highlight dvd's of the 58 Braves and 64 Mets as well as a ton of other sporting events I have recorded
over the years. I got to get off my butt and make a list so I know what I have.
I've got 5 or 6 from the '50s to the present on my iPod. Great for airplanes...
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.

Wow, that takes the cake! What an a**!
<< <i>I think I found the end of the internet so maybe you guys can help. I am looking for complete games (DVD or VHS) of the 1996 ALDS between the Rangers and Yankees - Games 1-4. Would also be interested in both 98 and 99 ALDS also involving Rangers-Yankees (only need games 1-3 those 2 years). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Matthew: I may be able to help you on the Yankees-Rangers games, but I will need some time to get through all the stuff in my attic. I promise to get back in touch with you.
I'm a new poster but I've been reading this board for a long time, and I have learned a lot. You guys are a trove of information, and enthusiasm, and I thank you for helping me get back into the hobby of collecting cards. This thread struck me, though, because I've been looking for a game on tape for about 15 years. It was from August 26, 1984, between the Mets and Giants. I've tried MLB, WOR-TV, the Mets, the Giants, the internet, etc. I even tried Kelvin Chapman! He hit his only career grand slam in the game, and I figured he MUST have a copy. I found his address and number, and contacted him. He DID have a copy, but I haven't been able to get him to send me one. Please, if anyone has one, or knows of another resource, I would greatly appreciate it.
