Another delivery confirmation problem

A buyer just e-mailed me today to ask where a card was that I shipped to him on March 11th, So when I go and check the tracking # I still get the same message as you get when you print off the mailing label. You know the one that says the post office has been notified that the item was blah, blah ,blah. Anyway, It looks like the post office hasnt scanned the package for two weeks. Where should I check first since the item doesnt look like it was ever scanned in ?? I either dropped it in a outside receptacle or inside box, Cant remember which, So, could it still be at my originating post office ??

I don't think there's a whole lot you can do except wait it out. I've had a few packages
that took up to 16 days within the U.S. until it finally got scanned/delivered. On the other side, I had a seller
sent me a package from Vegas (I'm in California) which shouldn't take more than 4 days to get to
me; and I got it after 35 days. It was printed on the day he said it was (day after I won item).....
we had no idea why it took so long, but that's the post office for you.

I don't think your package is at the initial drop off point any longer. It may be in transit.....it could be sitting
behind something until someone spots it, etc. You could go back and ask, but I think they'll tell you the same.
Maybe Jim can chime in for you. In the meantime, just ask the buyer to be patient. I wouldn't consider it
lost until at least 30 days. Good luck!

    Yep what Byron said.........

many guys complain that self postage del confirmations don't gt scanned into the system at the counter.

I'm sure it will show up, buyer needs to wait 30 days. After 30 days if an item I send has not reached the buyer I refund.

    Good for you.

Unfortunately, too, some buyers consider an unscanned package as a free gift. Not saying that's what happened here, but most packages aren't scanned during transit until they are actually delivered.

I saw a roll of labels that are bright green and say "Scan at Delivery" I think you get 500 for $10 or so. I thought about gettin some.
  • I just had to refund a package that was shipped on Feb 14th and still shows the item was accecpted at my local PO.

Contact your local PO they can sometimes pull more information about the item up than you can online. There used to be a form it was something like I61 or I610 or something like that.

Here are some SCAN ME labels.

BUT, many of the receiving clerks refuse to scan the DCs
you don't buy from USPS. The PM or Station Manager
will order them to, if you complain.

The EBAY boards have HUNDREDS of threads on the subject.
