I need some pricing help please on 3 signed Salvino statues, Rickey Henderson, Ken Griffey Jr., and

I've been cleaning out my storage shed and ran across these. I posted a post on the B/S/T board to see if I could get any offers, and I have a few people that have PM'd interest, but none of them have offered a price. This is so far away from my usual market of historical autographs, that I don't know what a fair price to both potential buyers/traders and to myself is. I tried to do my own research by checking ebay both current and completed, but I don't find really any useful data. I see they have been offered from time to time at $200-$350.00 per player, but they did not sell at that. What is a real world price on these things? Thanks for any assistance you can provide, I don't want to take advantage of any board members, nor do I want to short sell myself either. These are all authentically signed. Not the unsigned versions.

    Hi Mike

There doesn't seem to much interest in them anymore? They were hot for a while - but only certain newer stuff is selling - like the McFarlanes - and the Salvinos, Sports Impression and SLU's seem to have a small niche and not any broad appeal.

I can't even find Salvino's in Tuff Stuff - probably no activity.

So, I went to an old guide - Standard Cat of Sports Mem. - 2004.

They list the Henderson - sliding is the most common at 1000 units - $350. The Griffey at $400 - it looks like you have the gray? 1000 units. And last, the Reggie - 1000 units - at $300.

    I've never checked Ebay - so I'm clueless - I agree - the Griffey - since it's a Mariners uni - hard sell anywhere near $400?

How about putting them on ebay with a BIN/best offer and see what happens?

    Good luck

    Look at these...........................

    EDITED TO ADD:

Then look at "completed listings," on the left-side of the screen.

    Link.

edit: on the completed side of the house, someone got a good buy on a auto Koufax figure since it didn't have the box - for $130, I'ld take it sans the box!

Here is a link to COMPLETED "salvino figurine" auctions. I searched by "statue", "figure", and "figurine" with the last one providing the most hits. They are all over the board with regards to prices depending on the player and accompanying run.

I just edited mine to include that page Snorto and saw this item - Koufax.

Poor scan/pic - no box - but if the figure's in good shape - a buy even with the 20 buck shipping - which brings it to $140 approx.

Not bad IMO. Koufax anything - signed - is a tough buy.

I had the Koufax to in my shed, but the foot was broken. I sent the signature from it today off to HeritageAddict to create me a custom card from it. I"ll post scans of the card once I get it back.

Thanks y'all. I think I've got a price that I'll find satisfactory. I've listed them in the BST for $125.00 each plus shipping. Maybe too little, maybe too much, but it will help me get some cards I want if they sell (54 Aaron)

    Good luck Mike!

I think that sounds like a fair price but only time will tell.

  • Nice Statues. I think the major problem with most of these releases including Sports Impressions and Gartlan is that they were released during the height of the hobby in the early 90's. Prices were inflated just like most of the other stuff on the market, so the products have actually lost value when compared to the original retail price. Once value is lost most collectors shy away, so you are left with an item with limited appeal.

Some were limited editions and had many variations. The ones Mike has showed above were the basic signed Salvinos.Which are still nice. Though they do not bring much attention now adays. Because Salvino went out of business though most of the figures did not continue. The production runs were cut in half and some never finished. The special editons and artists proof figures are very detailed. A few Gartlan and Salvinos with the very limited signed with a detailed variation figure still demand big money.

The Salvino and Gartlan figures is what got me back into collectiong. I think they are beautiful figures, especially the Gartlans. The Ted Williams is absolutely gorgeous and still goes for a decent dollar.
