Anyone have experience with Brian Greer Rare Coins?

I've never dealt with him. His website seems....well, he doesn't post pictures and when asked about it he said, "I just don't do scans." I don't know if he's a member on the forums or not. Anybody have good or back luck with him? Thanks

I asked if still available, and to describe it a little bit. Since his description only said Nice. I received no answer, and a few days later it was removed from his site.
Silly me, he did answer by removing it..... I guess.
Brian is a one-man operation. He is at every major coin show and many, many minor shows. Generally, I expect that he is not available Wed-Sat most weeks. Best way to contact him or find out if he is available is via telephone (Mrs. Greer is a good source of information about Brian, but not about the coins or their availability). E-mail is not the sure-fire way of contacting Brian, as stman pointed out. I used to try to contact him via email, now I just call. Brian also sends out a price list. If you want first shot at his new purchases, the price list is a good choice, as Brian usually doesn't update his prices online until two or three days after updating his price list and mailing it out (his attempt at creating a level playing field for his customers who don't have or use the internet). If you collect coins (especially bust and seated) by die marriage/variety, Brian is an excellent dealer to check on regularly.

<< <i>I just can't get over not putting up pictures on his website. Or, at the very least, not posting a picture when one is requested. It just seems very odd in this digital world we live in. But that's just me I guess. I'm glad to hear from a number of people what a top-notch guy he is. >>
one of the best in the business is Ed Hipps. He doesn't even have a web site! I still seek him out at every show I go to.
There must be something about Seated dealers - seems they live in the era of their coins. Brian didn't even have a web site or send his list via email until recently. Until then, I always looked forward to getting his list via snail mail every couple of months.

He's not up to snuff on images or scans, and only takes checks no paypal or credit cards.
I've purchased about two dozen mostly raw, mostly seated coins from Brian. Zero returns and zero overgraded (several undergraded though...).
Trustworthy guy with a great eye.
<< <i>Hmmm, I had heard on this board how great he was to deal with. So, I emailed him about a coin I was seriously interested in. Since I already knew he didn't do images.......

I had a similar experience.
Because I hate to buy coins without at least seeing a good photo first, I emailed him a question about a coin I was interested in but never received the courtesy of an answer. Perhaps it had been sold before his site was updated, but because of that experience I don't even check his site anymore.
Most people on this forum seem to vouch for him though, so maybe he only responds to or deals with his friends or "established" customers and has enough (or more than he has time to handle?) business already?

I suspect that if you choose to give him a second chance you will be glad that you did.
