Conlon Collection Questions

Can anyone please provide any info. on the Conlon Collection Baseball cards that were released in the early 1990's. I love the photos and am looking for info on the set. How many cards were released? Also I noticed that the borders come in either black, burgundy and some in gold. Also 8x10's were released. I can't seem to find information on these cards. Thanks, P.

If you google 'conlon collection of baseball cards you will get many hits.

In a site called 'my card.info they have a checklist.

    hope that helps.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • There are also some cards in a dark blue border - like the Babe Ruth - from the 1993 Fanfest.

the Sporting News acquired Conlon's collection in 1945. Megacards began producing the conlan collection in 1991 releasing 330 cards.

The 2nd and 3rd series followed in 1992 and 1993.

There was also a set for the 1994 Fanfest.

    i hope that helps.

The guy who owned megacards, who made those conlon cards, is on my mail route. I was talking to him last saturday and he has some stuff left in his warehouse.

I planned on asking him next time I see him if he has any leftover pictures/negatives etc. If he has anything available I'll pass it on here.

  • that's cool. obviously he either loves delivering mail or the Megacards didn't make him rich. (maybe its the cool uniform or jeep they drive)

I'd love to take a look in the attic. Thanks for keeping the board in the loop.

One of the first (non certified) auto cards were in the Conlon set( Bob Feller) Factory sets from 1992 I think.
USN 1977-1987 * ALL cards are commons unless auto'd. Buying Britneycards. NWO for life.
  • Jim,

I salute you ... without the uniformed men of the post, we'd have to walk out trades to each other.
