This guy is poised for a huge year! he never hits HR's in Spring..he must be on a mission to disprove the haters.....
if you havent had your draft yet, do yourself a favor and get this guy on your roster, this is the cheapest he has been since 2002!
im calling for a .340-45-120-110-6 season.....

I have my draft tommorow after work and I know he will be there at # 6. Hard to pass on him but I want a "safer" pick!
Bosox1976
look out National League, someone is MAD and hitting the little leather ball VERY hard....
question....according to Ron Shandlers Baseball Forecaster, who has the BEST BATTING EYE? who has the Best Contact Rate?
you guessed, our buddy Albert Pujols.......his contact rate is equal to that of a slap hitter....his batting eye is roughly 140% better than the average hitter.....

YOUR buddy. Do you ever get sea sick because you swing from his (lower region) so much? (we all have our man crushes, yours is just a little stronger than most (other than Matt's for Emitt)
Edited to say: I know he's not Pujols, but Ben Zobrist hit .345 for the Rays in Spring Training last year. Final numbers for the 31 games he played before being sent down in the regular season..... .155 BA. Yep, Spring numbers= regular season success.

Sucks bro......

Yeah, this is one big reason why I think Pujols is and has been the best all-around player in the bigs for some time now. His career avg for K's per season is 64.57... even lower than Ichiro's 65.86! I don't care how you cut it, that is damn impressive for a power hitter! Sure, Ryan Howard has put up monster numbers over a few years and probably will continue to, but the guy strikes out about 3X what Pujols does! The same pretty much goes with all major power hitters to some extent. Even the supposedly great Pay-Rod K's twice as much as Pujols. In addition, the guy has worked very hard to make himself a very good fielder as well (gold glove in 06).
The real travesty is that during his first 7 years, Pujols has amassed numbers matched by nobody, yet he only has 1 MVP award for his monstrous efforts. Discounting the juice issue, I think he completely deserved the award both in 2006 and in 2003. Then, in 2001 & 2002, everyone that finished ahead of him were juicers. Similar thing in 2004 with Bonds finishing 1st, and Pujols 3rd, but was a near tie with Beltre who finished 2nd.
Bottom line... you can make an extremely strong case for the guy deserving the MVP in 6 of his first 7 MLB seasons. I find the fact that he only has 1 a complete joke. I hope his elbow holds up this year and that he has a monster year and runs away with the MVP.
All-time favorite athletes:
Steve Sax, Steve Garvey, Larry Bird, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Andre Agassi, Karch Kiraly, Wayne Gretzky, Ichiro Suzuki, Andres Galarraga, Greg Maddux.
"Make the world a better place... punch both A-Rods in the face (Alex Rodriguez and Andy Roddick)!"
Batted near .400, like 6 HRs, crud load of RBIs, etc.
Yeah, spring training games are a good indication of how a player is going to perform.

I would love to hear what qualifies ME as unintelligent!
I simply made a joke about your man-love for Pujols while following it up by saying that it's a common thing but yours seems a tad bit stronger than most other guys. Is there no truth to that statement?
Just because there are only a few other guys on this board that seem to be going goo-goo ga ga for Spring stats while the rest don't really care, doesn't mean you must call us all unintelligent for thinking differently than you.
With my last statement, I know I am opening myself up to ridicule based on my actions in my Crawford thread (man-crush). However, the reason for those actions was the fact that everyone seemed to be focused on the one player that I mentioned who was not even the topic of my thread rather than progressing the thread along after I asked numerous times to do so.
My opinion: No matter what kind of season he is having, it will all be cut short by his injury. LaRussa has already said that Pujols will see an increase in rest days this year as a result. Rumors have also been going around that he will probably need Tommy John surgery within the next few years (if true, bye bye 700). I feel that even if he does manage to play a full season, he will not put up numbers that are any more amazing or different than what he has already done in his career since he has little support, and will be rather exposed in a line up of Schumaker, Chris Duncan, Ankiel, Glaus, Adam Kennedy, and some other not very note worthy players.
Let's just pray (for your sake) that you guys beat the Pirates and Pujols hits 40 HRs.
finally.........i waited a week and a half for the first dingers this year.....
i still think he will be the first player to hit for the triple crown since Yaz....
