  • They had a good chance last year, and they have a good chance this year too.
It's just so hard getting past all those great teams out there.

  • I liked them much better when they had Bobby Smith and company back in the early 80's.
I really wish they would bring those uniforms back.

Unless they pull their heads out of their nether regions soon, they are going to face Detroit or San Jose in the first round and get beat like an old rug. The Stars have had this problem for years; I've always compared it to a light-switch being turned on or off - there is no middle ground with them. Right now, and for the entire month of March, their switch is firmly in the off position, just as it was firmly on in February. Their performance last night against Anaheim was nothing but embarrassing - 7 power plays and a grand total of 2 shots on those power plays. Marty looked as lost as I've ever seen him when he let that last goal get by him. Part of it is the rookies on defense not belonging in the NHL, but more of it is just pure laziness by our best players.

Still, when the Stars have the switch on, they are as talented a team as any other in the league with the possible exception of Detroit. I'm hoping that the return of Zubov and Boucher is the spark they need and they'll play in the playoffs like they played in February. If not, I will console myself with all of the money I will save on playoff tickets - again.

{edited to add} I did NOT mean Matt Niskanen when I referred to the rookie defensemen who don't belong in the NHL - just Fistric and Grossman.
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

I'm going to root for the Stars for the sole reason that they rescued Brad Richards from the Lightning!
  • I don't get to see them play much on tv now considering I live in western new york ( Buffalo Sabers Country).........I lived in Dallas for around 10 years the year the stars moved to Dallas and became a fan from then on.............So I was a Buffalo Bills fan living and Dallas and now a Dallas Stars fan living in Western New York........geez I can't win.....lol

Seriously, I can't stand them. Won't cheer for them and can't stand that they won a cup*

    *= skate in crease.

edited to add that yes, I am still bitter about a few things:

    1. They change their uniforms to that horrible logo with black jerseys.
    2. They dropped the North from their nickname while still in Minnesota
    3. That Norm Greed moved them.
    4. That Norm Greed would do interviews with those stupid dogs on his lap.
    5. That Norm Greed not only moved them but then sold them.
    6. That the NHL added too many teams.
    7. That the NHL swtiched to three divisions per Confernece, ultimately ruining divison rivalries.
    8. That the NHL dropped the names of the Conferences and Divisions because people in Tennessee and Arizona could figure out how to pronounce Smythe.

That feels better. Thanks for listening.
