Crazy emails from GAI...

I got this email from GAI today. Funny, I only submitted one order 5 Years ago, and I'm still on their mailing list (GRRR):

>>March 19, 2008

Good afternoon,

My name is Bill Dully and I am the new CEO of Global Authentication. I
want to thank you for taking the time to read this, we have been
through some challenging times and our communication to you has been spotty
and unreliable up to this point. I want to change that today. In the
fourth quarter of last year, Global was working through the process of a
change in ownership, which did not go as planned leaving the company
with no visibility and at a standstill. It was a trust and confidence
breaker with our customers and it was unfortunate that it happened, but it
happened nonetheless. We are sorry what occurred.

We have changed our company to offer more services in the last 60 days,
and hope you like the new look.

A) 10 in 10- $10 dollars for any card, graded, sealed, and shipped in
10 days of receipt, our doorstep to yours. You can also be sure that
Mike Baker will be grading your cards, guaranteed!
B) We are now grading oversized cards. Please check the website for
sizes and pricing.
C) We have launched a new version of our website, we are committed to
making it the best site in the business, if you have any suggestions on
how we can accomplish that goal please feel free to email at
customerservice@gacard.net
D) We have launched a brand new service called the Digital Review,
where you can upload an image of an autograph and have an opinion issued
within 24 hours.
E) Look for us in a city near you at the latest card shows. We have a
full schedule for the spring and early summer. I will be at the Chicago
Sun Times show and would like to meet you there.
.
Please take the time and look at our website and give us a try again.
We would like to earn you business back. Moving forward we want to offer
you these new services as well as the others that you have come to
rely on. The road ahead for us is a tough one due to our own making but I
can assure you our resolve and our direction is firm always keeping in
mind the collector comes first. You can reach me at
mailto:wdully@gacard.net. Feel free to share a constructive opinion with me
anytime.

Sincerely,

Bill Dully

In other words, that's why GAI will always be behind: PSA, SGC, and BGS.
Funny, I also got this crazy email from another GAI last week:

>>Dude, check out our new website.

We're offering our new 10 in 10 service and oversized grading now.

Gee, any grading card service that uses "Dude" whom is written by "Tim the Computer Guy" , it looks like it was written by a high school student or a company like PRO - Aren't we surprised why GAI had so many problems in the past few months? I see them going under within the next year or two!

That's actually a pretty candid email from the new CEO. I'm curious to see how it plays out.

I suspect that the email from "Tim the Computer Guy" was probably a mockup done to test out GAI's blast email system... but instead of selecting the "Staff only" list they hit the "Customer" list instead. OOPS!

Bad grammar, and just goes to show that any idiot can become a CEO. It's one thing to come across as personable, but we're not talking about Hannah Montana stickers in a vending machine; we're talking about a company that wants us to entrust them with our cherished and high value collectibles. Professionalism isn't optional; it's required.

Being a CEO of GAI is not that big of an accomplishment. By all accounts they occupied a single office area and could not pay the rent (or possibly the church next door kicked them out). Not what I would call a world-class operation.
