1969 Topps Football

I finally figured out that some 1969 T FB cards have vertical white borders and some don't. At first I though it was due to extreme miscuts, but that can't be why. From what I can tell, the 1st series is no borders, the 2nd series has them. Does anyone know of other card sets where all the cards (not counting more modern era subsets) differ between series like that?

Don't know of any other sets like the 69 Topps football. The first series was printed in such a manner that the left, right and top edge bled and when cut appear to have no boarders. The sheet is laid out uniquely with some cards right side up and others upside down. Series two was a normal sheet.

Also, the 2nd series checklist can be found with and w/o the white boarder as it was printed on both sheets:

68 football have different color backs, the first series are printed in green and the second series are printed with blue.

Awesome uncut sheets. Are those yours? Would love to have a link to the original image so I could look at at larger picture. Thanks for sharing!

  • On the uncut sheets of 69s - very interesting to see so many of the low pop high grade cards around the perimeter and corners. I had always figured it was something like that but very cool to see the layout in reality.

    Thanks for posting
