Anyone know why...

There were no Hank Aaron Kelloggs cards produced?

No, I do not. Odd though, don't you think? He was in just about everything else.

    Nice observation.

And no Willie McCovey cards from 1973 - 1977 (completely missing his Padre years) image

Like Honus Wagner and tobacco products, Hank thought cereal was bad for young people's health.

    Huh?
There's a hole in my head where the rain comes in.
  • Probably licensing issues.

    What are you talking about?
  • When you look at the great array of players in all the Kellogg's sets, there were some interesting omissions.

Most notablely in the 1971 set:

    Brooks Robinson - Orioles
    Hank Aaron - Braves*
    Carl Yastrzemski - Red Sox*
    Johnny Bench - Reds
    Rod Carew - Twins
    Orlando Cepeda - Giants

All these Hall of Famers (except *) appeared in the 1970 set a year earlier.
    Curious ... very curious.

wasn't he in one of the kellogg's all-time issues in the 90s?

    Thanks,

    Just what I said...

Willie McCovey was in the Kelloggs sets in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1978 and 1979; but not in 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. He played for the Padres in 1974, 1975 and 1976. What didn't you understand about my statement?

They all perferred oatmeal, and that Quaker guy didn't have the $$ for cards.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with money.
  • Hank was against young children eating all the cereal laced with sugar and getting fat and did not want his name associated with such a crime.

Oh, sorry about that. I thought you were saying that there were no McCovey cards created AT ALL during those years. My bad, just a misunderstanding.
