Its a Manny card, I dont think its a highly sought after card regardless if its a low pop or not you know?

But even if you are missing something, we are talking $3.99 shipped if nobody else puts a bid in image

That's a great card - I wonder if Classic printer a zillion of them? I've got the card - raw.

    I've got a bunch of UDs - if memory serves, it's 92UD #63?

I opened a ton of packs with my son - they were practically giving away '91 and 92 UD. After '89, it seems that UD let the presses fly wide open for like 40 days and 40 nites!

    Hi Mike image

    Thanks Alan
  • Yeah, this classic example wasnt overprinted like the UD #63, there are literally THOUSANDS of PSA 10's in that card.

The gold holo UD #63... that's a different story :-)

But yeah, this one doesnt have a high graded pop (a lottle over 300 if my memory serves me right) and only 12 10's.

Low pop Manny PSA 10 RC's sell for a ton sometimes. Like the Classic 4 Sport French variation or the aforementinoed gold holo UD #63.

This one looks like a steal.

Now dont you guys all go putting in bids against me, cool?!!?!

You're talking about the factory set - correct?

I've got a few but never have opened one - are they condition sensitive or what?

The gold holo was in the same set as the regular silver holo. It looks identical. The only difference is the little UD hologram on the back. The Gold ones are just super rare. 10's Bring $40-$60 whereas the silver holo (the regular card) is $9-$12 in a 10.

But for clarity, the silver were from packs and the gold from the factory sets is my recollection?

  • Spot on Mike, yes. Sorry, I should have been more clear.

  • but not all factory sets were gold holograms. Only 1:12 or 1:24 factory sets had the gold I believe.
  • I dont know the ratio, I know they were super rare by comparison.

    Jason

My understanding is that all the factory sets were gold - at least that's the way it's written in the Standard Catalog - it doesn't say anything about ratios.

  • All the factory sets were DEFINITELY not gold.....

p.s. I won the card from the original post for under $20.00 image

T/B centering looks a little off for a 10, but with those white borders, it doesn't take as much away from the visual appeal. Decent 10 and nice price.
  • Thanks
  • Saw your thread and remembered I saved a Manny card from a large junk wax search. I have a raw #216 - 1994 TOPPS MANNY RAMIREZ , noted as "Future Star". It's sharp and well centered. LMK if you are interested in it and see if I can get a scan. Well centered, has potential for that covented 10.

Are you submitting anything on the $5 modern special? I'm thinking about it and could include this one if makes sense.

  • Hey sbtrailrider,

I only collect Manny's minro league cards and 1992 rookies, so I have no need for this card.

    Thanks for the offer though.

Are you sure on that?? I could swear that all factory sets had the gold hologram??
  • Dang it...I actually have that Manny card in the original post. Guess it's to late to cut a deal with you huh? image
Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets, Shawn Kemp, Dale Murphy, and Bobby Engram.
  • I'll have to find the link I had the other day. It said that only 1 in 12 or 1 in 24 (like someone else above mentioned) were issued with gold holos.

And Mr Becker, yeah, too late image

From top to bottom, Classic stuff is pretty much junk. They actually did print a bazillion of them because they were sold in K-Mart type stores as well as toy store chains. I remember opening my weight in 1992 Classic 4-Sport because of all the gold cards, autos and Shaq's they had inserted. A few of the scarce earlier Classic board game cards are worth a few bucks, but most of it is worthless.
  • Fair enough. I respect your opinion.

I wouldnt be looking for the Classic stuff unless I was going for the player set.

I was really speaking only about why they don't bring much money. I actually like some of the Classic cards. They were the first ones to incorporate a nice selection of autos in their packs. It's a shame guys like Jeffrey Hammonds, Chad Mottola, Desmond Howard, David Klingler, and all those guys from the "loaded" 92-93 NBA draft (Mourning, Laettner, Miner, Ellis, Googs, W.Williams, Sprewell, etc...) never met expectations. That 4-Sport auto set could've been a monster.

    Don't forget Rocket Ishmail (sp?)

edited to add: ooooh and his brother too, little missle.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • Oh I hear ya man, I wasnt taking offense or anything.

I like my pop five, Classic 4-Sport French PSA 10 too :-)

Man, just mentioning all those names makes me shudder. I have dozens of RCs of a lot of those guys stored away in boxes somewhere!
