1949 Paige
1) Priced at $6500 (8 lists for $2700, 9 for $14000)--what do you think of that price?
2) Would someone please buy this so I am not tempted to? What a nice card . . .
Thanks.

That's one of the toughest cards in my set.
VCP average for an 8 is $2,937.48 and VCP average for a 9 is $18,914.00 (one sale).
I'd say his asking price is fair. I might offer $5,000.00 and see what he says.
Dang nice card though.
If I had a few grand to spare, I'd be all over this. That's the toughest card along with the Jackie Robinson in this set.
I've been collecting 1949 Bowman for almost a year now. My set is in the link in my sig line. Nothing special there, but a few 8's :-)
<< <i>Yeah--I thought someone here might want it. The color is gorgeous and even the rough edges look nice. Not familiar with seller--just bowled over by card itself. >>
It isn' t Jay from quality cards, I do know that
edited to add- looks like a nice submission- if you change the last 3 numbers in the cert to 518 you'll see he got the same card in a 9 as well.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
wow- nice card. But I just don't get it.
Two months ago that card was an 8. Two months ago that card averaged about 3K. Now that card is worth twice as much? Grading - funny, eh?
<< <i>Good luck on your offer Wondo.

Or, the seller saw it as a high-end 8 and had a price of $6000 on it. No one wanted to buy it because "it's only an 8." Now the seller is able to get a fair price for such a fantastic card, while the buyer will be happy because the grade more accurately represents the actual card.
As a note, I love the rough cuts on the sides. The bottom corners must be what kept it from a 9, right?
WTB: 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars Longevity: Ryan Jensen #/25
I'ld like to see the 9 also.

Good point, but two months ago a generic 8 was 3k - this card has always been worth more, just a smaller audience (read "more downside") in the plain 8 holder

I agree.....
That is one sweet looking card... WOW
Jake
With that said it is a very nice card.
A card that the .5 grading scale was meant for.
Steve
Looks like it ended on time with one declined offer.
Here is the 1949 Bowman Billy Cox rookie.
