I've never submitted an auto for Authentication before, so this was new to me. I weighed out the differences between PSA/DNA and JSA/BGS
and decided to go with JSA/BGS this time for a couple reason. I certainly have NO PROBLEMS with PSA/DNA as I have several slabbed cert.'d Auto's
in my collection that I've picked up on Ebay.
Both services are $20/card, but I believe (could be wrong) that PSA charges $20 per auto if the card has been signed by mult. players... JSA does not.
PSA/DNA quotes an approx. turnaround time of 20 days.... which means what these days? ... a month? month and a half?
JSA/BGS quotes 10 days... and I found out they were actually much quicker than that.
Now, I prefer submitting my cards to PSA for grading, but I'll be the first to admit the BGS slabs are much more superior to PSA's for protection.
I will admit though, the flip that JSA/BGS isn't 'pretty' at all... PSA/DNA has them beat hands down there.
Anyhow...
I submitted these cards on a Monday (three weeks ago.) You have to send the cards directly to JSA in New Jersey.
I never received an email or any communication from JSA that they had received my cards, but I knew they had them Wednesday bases on the del. confirmation.
Now, after JSA has Authenticated the cards (or denied their validity) they ship your cards to Beckett in Texas to have them slabbed.
I received an email from Beckett that they had received my cards Monday... exactly one week after I shipped them... THAT'S FAST!
One week after that, they were shipped and the results were posted on the Web.... the cards arrived Wednesday.... a total of 2 and a half weeks start to finish.
These first three (Ryan, Rose, & McGwire) were Ebay purchases as non-certified Auto's that I spent $5.50/ea for delivered... a STEAL!
This one was another purchase off Ebay... a whopping $5 delivered for this beauty...
... when I saw this one, I had to have it! Just under $10 delivered!
This one I got in person at a card show in Cincinnati back in 1990. I just wanted to have it slabbed for protection.
Both Jr. and Sr. were incredibly pleasant that day... just wished I would have held onto the other cards
I had Auto'd that day....
.... and you didn't think I'd have a submission without a Chris Sabo in it did you? ...

BGS/JSA should of stuck with the gold. I'll even settle
for silver, but the blue is just downright ugly. It looks
so generic. I have thought about sending stuff to BGS/JSA. Autos look great in the holders.....hope they eventually change the flips.

<< <i>We have one person saying the Mcgwire is as good as he has ever see, we have another saying it is a forgery, and we have JSA saying it is real.
What gives?!?!? >>
Yes, very disturbing to see that authenticated by any company. Im positive its a fake, and there's a couple telltale signs.
Hmmm.. ya know, I never noticed that until now... good observation. Nope, they all didn't come from the same dealer. I met the Griffey's myself, and I've had that Sabo for a while now.
Blue and Black seem to be the most common colors of sharpies used.
That McGwire is a forgery! Im surprised it got authenticated. Were these all from the same seller?
The McGwire, Rose, and Ryan all came from the same source... and I deff. value your opinion on the McGwire. You'd deff. be someone that I'd trust for an opinion with his Auto's.
Knowing if it was legit or not is why I submitted it though. If Spence says it good, I gotta believe it is.... especially if the Ryan and Rose are good as well.
I'm the same way with Sabo auto's... I probably know the real ones from the fake ones better than anyone... except maybe Chris himself!
ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
