Need a little help with a 59 Spahn

I'm looking for a 59 Spahn, and there seems to be 3 variations having to do with his birth date on the back of the card (born in 1921, born in 1931, and 3 obscured). Prices on the Spahn have been really high, but I'm not sure if it's due to the variations. Anybody familiar with this card? What's the deal on the high prices? SMR for an 8 is $120, but it seems 7's are getting more than that.

SMR is just a guide and right now the 59s are really hot due to the release of the Heritage set.

Born in '31 is, by far, the toughest variation. Two PSA 8s of it surfaced on ebay about 6 months ago..one went for about $1100 and the other about $850. (if my memory serves me correctly).

If you check the PSA '59 master set registry most of the folks do not have this card.

The pop reports on this card are not anywhere near reality.

59's have been hot for the past few years. Last yr 2 very high quality sets were broken up and both did very well.

Many of the same cards were even sold at the same time or weeks apart.
