So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • Those are some nice balls.

    Unfortunately, I have no balls.

Mike, that's nice. Condition is just right - they didn't have ball cubes back then!

Here's my only ford frick baseball - it's signed by some of the 1937 jersey city giants of the international league, and their manager, HOF Travis Jackson.

Lee's still around? The mods are slippin'.

I've posted this one before, but it's the only one I got... Jose Cardenal, a childhood favorite.

Got this at his camp in 1979 or 1980

    image
  • Not as good as some of those guys above but in 20 years, a few of these guys will be the HOFers people will be paying $100 for.

    Mattingly
    image

:hoping I don't get booed or beer thrown on me: Bud Selig...Commisioner of baseball, now through 2012 image
    image

I have 2 of these Kazmirs now....
    image

Evan Longoria...nice signature from a young guy.
    image

La Russa that I got when I was a wee little lad.
    image

Bob Boone on a Florida State League ball he gave me back when he was an instructor in the minors.
    image

Some of team Australia from the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Little did I know that the autograph at the top would be the surprise rookie hurler for the Braves a month from then.....Peter Moylan. The Dominican Rep. side was too crazy with the names of Pujols, Ortiz, Tejada, Pena, Pedro Martinez, etc. so I went over to the Aussie side and got about 8 autos. Can't wait until next year!!!
    image

    Ryan Zimmerman
    image

Delmon Young. Now I can see why he skipped college and went straight to the MLB with that signature image
    image

    Francoeur
    image

Andruw that I got about 4 years ago, so that explains the sharpie. At least I got it on a OMLB though. But still, stupid 13 year old.....
    image

    Carl Crawford....I have dos.
    image

Jim Palmer... I found him wandering around Tropicana Field when the O's were in town. Pretty funny when a (then) 16 year old recognized him and all the 40 year olds were asking me who it was after he signed for me.
    image

My latest addition from this spring (shouldn't be the last with me seeing the Braves twice in the coming weeks)....David Price with the inscription #1 overall that I asked for.

very nice collection you got going Goot. Lots of really cool balls in this thread.

I gotta take some pictures of some more of mine. Got a fun, mixed ball from a golf tournament signed by people from all sports and few celebs.

Here's the only other one I have on my PC at the moment:

Thanks a lot man. The best thing about them is that I've gotten every single one of those in person except for Selig.

Nice Wakefield, that's one that I need to add to my collection. I need to figure out a local appearance he's making or something because his prices on ebay are crazy!!

Nomar from the Cape League 93 or 94? don't remember, whatever year he was here

Aaron Boone same year, same ball. kind of ironic with what came to finish off our season in 03

That's a great ball. I love that it's yellowed, as you can tell it wasn't signed at a show in 2006.

got my golf tournament ball photos taken. I have the program that lists most of the guys and I had a list at some point but have no clue where it is atm. Mike Schmidt wouldn't sign the ball because of his contract with Upper Deck but signed the program with complete scribble and came out crappy.

Tommy John, Dave McNally, and Rick Rhoden
    image

Gary "US" Bonds, Jeremy Roenick, Cam Neely
    image

Ed Westfall, Chuck Cecil, Bobby Grich
    image

Ken Harrelson, Jon Barry, Phil Simms
    imageimage

And the sweet spot - Gene Mauch
    image

I know I got Bryant Gumbel (no idea why) on the ball too but not sure which one he is. Jan Stennerud (sp?) I think is on it somewhere

    << <i>Stone- Game used? >>

No - just old - like me.

But here's a ball that I picked up a few years ago - it's a GU 3000th hit game ball of G. Brett. It's PSA/DNA including signed letter from the ump that the ball was used in the game.

    image

A Brett collector will especially like this item - I would think.

  • 82 Orioles team ball (signed in 1982, not a 're-do' from collecting them individually years after 1982), Ripken Rookie year, also has Cal Ripken Sr., and for some reason, Brooks Robinson signed it too (retired the year before, but was announcing in 1982). I also have a signed baseball card of each player, and I tried to get cards that had signatures about the same age as the ball.
