Taking DMPL coin pictures

Okay, I'm learning that to capture any PL attributes in a picture is very hard. I got some suggestion a week ago and making an attempt. 1st pass....I'll try to make another attempt at some point. This is one of my favorite coins...a DMPL 1877-S Trade Dollar. Grade is 61 (I was robbed...this coin is amazing). When will PCGS give PL to non-Morgans?

You need to make a paper box (4 sided) and put the coin in the bottom and your camera at the top. Put a light source outside the box and this will show the contrast well.

The half mirror shot (what you got) is always a tough one in a slab. To get the balck and white look you need to shoot the coin from straight on and make sure that the glare from the light doesn't encroach on the coin.

I've seen a frosted lamp globe used as a filter over the coin. Allows the artificial(incandescent, halogen etc..) light to be diffused properly to prevent reflected glare.
