Scottsdale Card Shops?

So.........me and the wife are going to be in AZ for a week starting Easter Sunday. She will be in a conference all week, I'll have a rental car, and lot's of time on my hands. Last year was easy (conference was in Vegas), this year I may get a little bored.

Anyone from the area. I plan on hitting up Scottsdale Sportscards (the only one I've heard of), but the Google Map shows about a dozen other shops in the area. Is this the case? Any of them worth going to. Any feedback would be appreciated. Card shops, restaurants, places of interest (wink wink), etc.

Thanks, Bob

When I'm in Scottsdale I always go to the Biltmore and chill.

My in-laws live there and they have the best pools and saunas.

    Just act like you belong.......hehe

About five years ago, I bought a bunch of graded '71s from Scottsdale Cards. All the transactions were great. As long as the owner is still the same person, it should be a good experience for you, too.

Christie's Cabaret, Tiffanny's Cabaret and Bourbon Street have some pretty nice talent. Diva's Cabaret, Diamond Jacks and Centerfolds Cabaret are decent. Don't waste your time with Dick's Cabaret, Body Shop Cabaret, Amazon, Sinn Cabaret or Champagne Room.

Sorry i couldn't be of more help but i've only lived here a week.

Scottsdale Sportscards has the same owner, Brian Marcy, but he doesn't have a shop. Great guy, and his dad Bob is probably the best non sports dealer to work with.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I live in Phoenix and I do most of my shopping on eBay. I've checked for some spots, but they have lots of newer cards, memoribilia, etc. Not much interest, personally, for this stuff. And lots of stores have closed too. I see lots of signs but closed businesses.
Note to self, check into the list supplied by rajah...
Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Tom Seaver, Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock player collector

Hoopers Sports Cards on 90th St in Scottsdale is decent. There is a store on 19th Ave. that has a good selection of vintage but the prices are pretty high, he will haggle a little though based on how much you buy. I can't remember the name of it though.

So much for my attempt to give you plausible deniability if your wife ever sees this thread. image
