Kuenker auction this week?

Anybody attending in person? I am very curious to hear the outcome of a few auctions scheduled for Mar 12, and I was wondering if anybody was attending in person.

    Those are beauties!

There is a robust german states sede vacante taler & medal collection in this Kuenker auction that had me all worked up......too bad the budget keeps me in check. I have 4 bids that I hope are realistic. Some of the other beauties in this collection....

.....a very scarce taler from Trier

....one hell of a nice design from Bamberg

..... sede vacante medal from Munster

    WCG ..... That's a group of real nice silvers.image

I only hope that the high Euro>Dollar conversion scared away a lot of bidders. I know the bids I submitted were above Kuenker's estimate but with the exchange rate I'm probably at a 10-20% disadvantage to European bidders !!

    Fingers crossed.

I couldnt believe the number of sede vacante pieces all in the same auction. Win or lose, it will be interesting to see the results. The 4 pieces that I bid on (not the ones above) have a huge range in hammer results over the past couple of years on coinarchives.com.

This auction was huge for both nice silver and gold.

I actually bid on 5 pieces, the other 3 are in Auction 139 on the 13th.

Results are now posted. I think went 1 for 4, but I'm not sure. I received a voice mail from Tues from Kuenker stating that lot 7192 switched the description with lot 7193. Unfortunately I didnt get the message until after the auction was over. I was trying for the Passau piece below, which was lot 7193. Its unclear what happened to my bid as a result. I hope it went through.

I thought I had a chance with my other bids at around 175% of estimate. Apparently interest was heavy on some of the lots and lighter than expected on others.

    Zero out of five.

Sad because I wasn't even in the ballpark on 4 of the 5. The hammer prices were way above anything I could find as reference and with a 1.57 exchange rate to the Euro to boot .... out of sight !!!

Time for me to regroup and try to figure out how to continue to buy world gold without mortgaging the farm !!

wow, sorry to hear that! yeah, the white hot coin market and the exchange rate is creating havoc for those of us that like to purchase overseas. better luck next time!
