Platinum membership free submissions

Now that I am a platinum member (I got the letter my silver membership was going to expire the same day I got my platinum package...but, anyway...). Now, my quandry is this...I have several PCGS older holders (a few rattlers) that I think will upgrade, and a few from ATS that I am quite sure will upgrade (old fatties no line), and would like to see at LEAST cross at same grade, but at least have them in PCGS plastic. My question is, do you think it would be better to crack 'em out and send them in raw (which I cringe thinking about...I can crack out safely without damaging the coin), or send them in their holders (obviously, for the crossovers, I would have to send in the holder, or should I crack and send raw?). There has been many discussions on this, and even though I have read where some have better luck cracking and sending raw, I am more or less looking to be told what to do, through your experiences. I have no raw coins to send in (except for an MS gold Baldie which I think is gonna 70, but will 69 at the least), and of the 8, I am certain (though, I am not a pro grader) the ones I think will upgrade will do just that (we are talking a good jump in $$ for the extra point, and none are moderns). I guess I am looking to hear about success stories from both sides of the fence and a little guidance, as this will be my first real submission. Sending the $5 Baldie in, do I need to put it in the 2 1/2X2 1/2, or can I send it in the mint capsule? As you can probably tell, I am nervous about this first time experience and will certainly take all your advice, criticism, critique to heart. I know I am overly paranoid/excited/befuddled, but want to do this the right way the first time. Newbie submission paranoia, sucks! Thanx in advance...I know you guys/gals will steer me the right way!

Don't forget if you have a gold coin, any gold coin (the 5 dollar baldie would qualify) , that is the free quarterly submission if you haven't used it yet also. I think you just put it on a seperate form, pay for shipping by itself for the return trip, but you can include it in your package with the 8 freebies.

You have a full year to contemplate what to do with your free submissions. Why not use them for something you want to get graded?

For the crossover game, my last crossover came back a point lower even though I knew it deserved its current grade. I cracked it out, resubmitted raw to get it back into its correct holder. A simple waste of my time and my money.

On the other hand, I crossed many coins over at the same grade but, none of them were expensive coins. PCGS ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, looks very closely at upgrade candidates that might potentially cost them money in the grade guarantee department. Especially if they are in competitors holders. This only makes good business sense.

If you are not sure the coins will cross at the same grade, DO NOT WASTE YOUR SUBMISSIONS!

For the baldie, you can leave it in the original mint capsule but they will not return it unless you pay them $2.00 extra to return it. At least, this was the case with the 20th Anniversary Sets I don;t really know for sure what it is for plain ole mint capsules.

Again, you have nearly 1 year to use these freebie's and I strongly advise you to not waste them.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

My best advice is wait till a week or so before your free submission slip expires, then sit down with all the candidates and decide what the 8 best are. No need to be in a rush... you never know when your going to find that killer coin that you just have to try to get in plastic. image
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

I just used the free gold submission on a Baldie and got a MS70. I wasn't even going to have it graded except for the free submission.
