Itty Bitty Medal; Jeanne d'Arc

harashaharasha Posts: 3,098 ✭✭✭✭✭
I was rummaging through a box of odds and ends, consisting of small medals among other things. I believe that my father gathered them in the years between the World Wars. Anyway, I was delighted to find something referring to my favorite medal subject, Jeanne d'Arc. I do not know what it is except that it was made between 1909 and 1920 (Jeanne d'Arc is beatified, not canonized) and the artist's initials may have been M F. Anyone have a clue?

I seem to remember seeing Jeanne D'Arc medallions from Canada. Just tried a google search and came up empty.

    Hmmm?

If it isn't M F, it would be M P. However, I am sure that the initials are M F.

  • The initial F on medals is often Fecit, Latin for "made it". In that case, M would be the initial of the artist.
