About the Guest
For more than 20 years, renowned coin enthusiast and numismatic authority Robert Chambers and Silver Towne, one of America’s have partnered to offer collectors and numismatists the opportunity to own some of the world’s finest rare coins.
Like many collectors, Robert’s interest in coins began at an early age. Family members and relatives collected coins and often gave Robert rare coins as gifts. Soon, Robert’s budding collection contained buffalo nickels, Morgan dollars, and even some old currency notes.
Robert’s passion became his profession in 1988, when he took a chance on an audition for a nearby TV shopping network. He screen tested on Wednesday, was hired Thursday, and on the air by Friday.
Since his trial-by-fire debut, Robert has delivered over $1,000,000,000 in collectible coins to collectors throughout the United States. His motto: Describe exactly what the item is, be precise about the grade or condition, and deliver it in the timeliest fashion.
"This is history in the making,” said Chambers. “I've been lucky enough to host The Coin Shoppe for 20 years now. We at Silver Towne have always taken tremendous pride in offering the finest in rare coins, currency, and the latest certified releases. In addition to the show being an exciting opportunity for collectors, I am personally thrilled to be part of this joint venture with ShopNBC and look forward to continuing the excellence that The Coin Shoppe has provided for over two decades."

Ok, is that 1 BILLION dollars in collectible coins, or 1 BILLION dollars in sales on about 10 Million dollars in collectible coins, his motto has nothing about value in there!
Good job if you can get it
Guess he forgot all about the Coin Vault which he hosted up till recently! lol
I hate when that happens
I do enjoy his show. He is entertaining, I may pick up a tidbit here and there, at get to see shiny metal on the tube!!
However, I do feel for the folks that purchase his wares...

<< <i>Did you happen to see the Final Coin Vault Show. They didn't sell anything in the last half hour. They brought out some of the behind the scences people producers, camera people, call center supervisiors. It was kind of sad when the screen faded to black with the staff on stage. >>
So.. I take it stevie collector that your vast collection came from Coin Vault???
DJM,
I did want to see that final show. I couldn't get it on the internet site. I'm sorry I missed it.
Paul,
I've NEVER bought one item from the Coin Vault. I think it is great entertainment for anyone interested in coins. The so called "rip-off" is just stupid in my opinion because most of us get "ripped-off" everyday. That is what is called free enterprise and allows people to make money. We coin collectors have LEARNED about coin value. Stop trying to think that everyone else has to be led to do certain things because it costs too much money. The ability to buy coins on credit and return them if not satisfactory is something some people appreciate. It may cost them more money, but so does the car many of us buy via a 3 or 4 year loan. Build it and they will come.
The infrastructure exists. This is a huge concern and won't just go away because SAH gets bought out.
Of course it didn't have to include Chambers and this is a testament to his staying power.

That's probably how many people here feel
That other dude he was with was an idiot. When hawking a 1986-2008 Silver Eagle NGC MS69 set, the idiot says "People are going to start calling in asking 'where's my 1995W?' " Robert simply answered "That's a proof" obviously trying to contain his laughter.
The prices on these coins aren't just high, not just inflated - it's highway robbery. MS70 2008 NGC Gold Buffaloes for $1800. 2008 4-piece gold MS70 NGC sets for something like $3400. 10th Anniversary Platinum sets NGC MS70 in a multiholder for $4000.
Robert is up to his same old shenanigans to sell the coins. Used car salesman tactics. He glamorized NGC's "Early Release" label, saying that "NGC used to use First Strike labels, but they wanted to take the superlative one step further and now they have Early Release" or something to that effect. He made absolutely no mention of the First Strike lawsuit, etc.
I do believe that he is a competent numismatist, and he could be a very powerful person in the hobby, but instead he chooses to hawk his overpriced wares on Coin Vault and Coin Shoppe.

Robert Chambers introduced the 2007 10th anniversary platinum coins last night in the NGC 70/70 2 pack slab. He stated something so funny that made me crackle like a rooster. He sold over 1000 of these at over $5,000 a set.

Does he do consignments?

So what do you propose? Government price controls on what price you are allowed to ask
for a coin? Ever hear of a "free market."?
