What a Day

Aweful weather today for the annual show in Rochester NY. I had a blast. I sold almost $830 from my duffel bag and spent just over $840. I am down to 3 on a very nice 59 Ted Williams set and picked up about 200 awesome 70 71 highs and finished all but 6 from my 72 topps set. What a great feeling to eliminate all the dashes (-) in my want list and narrow it down just a couple lines. I probably am a dope for trying to build all these tough 70s sets. When I am done Ill probably just sell them anyway and by then who knows if it will be at a profit.

Just thought Id share the day. 4 hours of fun and lots of good stuff to see.

Sounds like ya had a blast !
You sold stuff at the show without actually being in the show , like walking around the place ?

Interesting day, congrats on your pickups and good luck on your sets. image

On a side note, to bad the show wasn't in Seattle, where there was in fact... no rain.

    Hi Chris,

I am glad you did well at the show. Where is the show in Rochester at? I am from Buffalo. Also, have you ever been to the monthly show at the Wishing Well? I see it adverstised on the web. If so, is it any good?
  • I have been many times to the wishing well. I would not drive from Buffalo for that show. The best vintage dealer there is from GI and you probably know him. Gary Nuchereno. He has great stuff and a huge selection. The rest of the people there are hit and miss locals. I would not say it a bad show and the promoter really tries hard, but for vintage it is not worth the drive. I think there is one next month in Buffalo, and I am sure Gary will be there.

  • Yes i sold stuff by jsut carrying it around. I sold 4 Psa cards for $700 an album of 67 Philadelphia football for $100 and some other misc stuff. Also made a few trades. I bought $600 in high quality raw 70 and 71 highs and a few 72 highs I needed. Then I bought two different deals of $100 each for some 59 fleer Ted Williams to upgrade my set. I also picked up a steal on a 1976 topps set. Strong nrmt or better $100. I was very happy with that. It was the only set from 1970-90 I didn't have or have in progress.

Thanks Chris for the advice. I am really not up to speed with the local show scene. What show is in Buffalo next month?

Nice pickups by the way. Especially, on the 1976 set.
