I think an 8.5 is a little generous , due to the centering top to bottom and left to right , as well as the print defects , the bottom and top right corners look dinged ever so slightly .
I'm going to guess 7.5 to an 8 , hoping that I am "NOT" right and it grades higher .
The back of that card is amazing !
Great card whatever it grades , I'd love to have that in my collection in any condition .
I think it is 7.5 material, even with the snow, centering and two touched corners. I mean, you see 6s with a rounded corner and worse centering from the 50s and 60s all the time:
If this were a 1962 Topps it would be a 7 easily, and might even swing an 8. Needless to say I'm happy with the purchase, but I wish PSA wouldn't grade newer cards more harshly than vintage. They're basically feeding into the misperception that a vintage card is "in good condition for the age".
I think it is in all likelihood an 8. Very nice card though. Maybe an 8.5 on a good day.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
I was going to say a 7 or 7.5. I think the snow and fish eyes are hurting it more than you think. You might be able to get it in an 8PD holder but I'd rather have the straight 6. Corners are nice.
Lee, as soon as I saw your card, I immediately thought 8 PD. Seeing it in a 6 holder originally makes sense. Take away the qualifier and drop 2 grades lower. Still a nice looking card.
Just the snow in the crowd. It is definitely there but I think if I had been more into the crack and resubmit game i would already have it in a straight nine holder. I used to be worried that it would fall to an 8 but the price difference between 9pd and 8 really isn't much ($100-200 spread) so probably worth a shot at some point.

Wow, chaz gave me a bump. Unprecedented. I really hadn't intended on getting it re-graded, but I wanted to see if you guys thought it was undergraded like I did. It fits in well with my raw collection.

i have no idea how they grade hockey cards, but prolly very stringently for this particular card.

But, if the back is, in fact a stain, then 7ST.
And if the front is, in fact a print defect (I dont think it is though, is it?) then 7PD.
Great card though! it's on my wishlist!

I agree , they will probably be very stingy on grading that card , but should they be ?
I guess looking at it from the guys point of view that has it in Gem mint condition , he would hope they are stingy .
That person is not me though, just to be clear .

Here is my Gretzky (I've been contemplating cracking and resubmitting and hoping for a straight 9).
