Chances of crossing MGS, PGS, GEM, BCCG etc to a PSA 10?

Hey all,

As most of you know, I'm going for all Manny Ramirez Rookies (including minor-league cards) in PSA 10.

The 1991 FRONT ROW MANNY RAMIREZ DRAFT PICKS #47 card has no 10's to date. I was thinking of trying to pick up some of these graded by those "other guys" in the hopes of maybe netting a 10.

Do you guys think there is any chance at all? Or are these just more graders that slap 10's on all their cards?

Please pardon my ignorance, I have no experience with any other grading company.

These are just some examples. Is BCCG the best?

Thanks for your opinions!

Alan out of those companies listed Beckett is the only one I would consider..
  • Thanks Paul.

Have you ever seen a BCCG 10 cross to a PSA 10?

Gotta say I never noticed, I just know that Beckett is respectable at least for Modern stuff. Most people on here will agree that a card in a PSA holder will hold more value than a Beckett. Those other companys would get laughed off the boards here though!
  • Thanks man.

At a couple bucks a card and if I can get them in the $5 special... it might be worth a try.

Anyone else seen a BCCG cross to a PSA 10?
  • most of the ones you linked show very clear wear, definitely not 10 material.

My friend had 2 BCCG 10 Kobe Bryant cross over to BGS 9.5s....
this was out of 15 BCCG Bryant RCs that he purchased on ebay.
As far as crossing over to PSA 10, I don't know. Maybe you'll let us know image good luck!

Oh yeah, agreed, I just wanted to post those as examples of those specific grading companies.

I wasnt necessarily asking if those specif auctions would corss over. I should have been more specific, sorry about that.

  • Is it worth trying to crack all these out?

    Lot of 10 BCCG's

  • Stone, Stone ,Stone, LOL . I Know its only the begining of March but that is one of the funniest replies to a post that I have read in a very long time, and the funniest this year. Here is the post and your response << Chances of crossing MGS, PGS, GEM, BCCG etc to a PSA 10? >>

Stone "You got a better chance of finding a diamond up a goat's ass."

I would like to create a new award for these boards. I think I will call it the FUNNY BONE AWARD given to the individual with the funniest response to a post . I nominate your response Stone. I LMAO.

As funny as this is, be sure to realize that he's dead on correct too.

I tried a few times to buy BccG cards that looked to have perfect centering in the hopes of scoring a PSA 10 / SGC 98. But when I got the cards they had corner issues that I couldn't see in the scans. I never sent any of them to a real grading company.

  • I have sent a few and very few if any come back PSA 10. Most of the ones I sent came back with an average of PSA 8.5.image

I crossed one BCCG 10 ('73 Gene Michael) over to PSA in hopes of getting a 9 since I was unable to find one and was successful. I have a BCCG 10 Topps Gwynn rookie that would have trouble achieving PSA 9. Keep in mind that the definition of a BCCG 10 is "mint or better", with most of them stretching the definition of mint from what I understand. So unless you see one in person that appears to be a strong PSA 10 candidate, when buying one online assume that you'd be fortunate to achieve a 9 if crossed over to PSA.
  • Thanks for all the replies guys.

I might still be interested in that lot of ten for $100. Even if I net ten 9's, I can still recoup some of my money.

    Sounds like most BCCG 10's get 8.5 - 9.

    Thanks a lot gentlemen.

  • The worst thing about the BCCG holders is that the cards can shift around in them. So even if the card did have Gem Mint corners, once its been shipped and moved around the corners take a beating. Another reason to never buy BCCG.

I thought Becket had those internal plastic sleeves? Or is that just with BVG/BGS?

Again, pardon my ignorance, I have no experience with the other graders.

BGS and BccG are totally different.

BGS has solid brick holders with an inner sleeve. They have grading standards and keep a population report. BccG is a bulk system for guys to get things slabbed a 10. The slabs are as junk as the grade and will damage cards and almost everything gets a 10. It's no better than PRO, PGI... On the Beckett grading board everyone always tries to get beckett to shut it down. All they do is help scammers and make themselves look bad.

No, BCCG, does not put them in any sleave. All the ones I have seen do not fit the card properly. The cards get damaged really easy in these holders.
  • Thanks for the replies guys.

I guess I'll just hold off and see if I can find some gems raw.
