Opinions on auto cuts needed

Just some hypethetical questions here... If a guy had an auto cut of someone really famous, like Babe Ruth for example.

Would it be wrong send it to Knuckles, to be carded and holdered?

How about trimming up the already cut edges so it would better fit a holder?

And finally, should a cut out auto with someone of this magnitude be left unmodified, period?

Just hypethetical guys, I don't have a Ruth auto. image

  • If anything I think it SHOULD be cut and sent to Knuckles.

    Those cards are amazing.

Absolutely I would do something to make it look better. Trimming the edges is a good start. For someone like Ruth or Clemente, etc, I would definitely send to knuckles.

Personally, for lower/middle class autos, I make my own to save the money.

This however depends alot on the person. A lot of people, particularly non card collectors like to frame cuts with pictures of the person. They would prefer the cuts as is.

Im *most* cases, if it were a photo or something, dont cut it up.

IMO, if it's just a signed index card or something, cut away!

What if it was in a big slab with other autos, and you wanted it in a small slab? Do you just crack it, trim it and send it back to PSA, or do they have a way of doing this to retain authenticity?

I agree with you guys, Knuckles it would be for me also, thanks.

I'm leaning very heavily towards Knuckles for the auto I'd like to buy.

    Yup, I agree.

I somewhat disagree on cutting an index card sig. I have a bunch of index card sigs that I plan on having slabbed and then put into a framed and matted display with various other possible things like an 8 x 10 and/or a ticket stub, or what have you. I guess you could go the cut sig route on this too though. I'm going to do this myself to avoid some of the costs, and it will still be a little costly, but the cost of this compared to a knuckles cut sig card (which completely blow my mind by the way, awesome!!!) are pretty comparable. Just my opinion though.

Right, index cards are nice and I wouldn't cut them either unless I had a good reason.

I've had Garret make me about 10 cards for my football collection. I couldn't be happier with the way they have turned out.

I haven't had them slabbed yet, but you scan the item before you send it to Knuckles. Knuckles will crack it out of the slab and send back the flip with your card. When you send it to PSA, include the original scan and the flip and PSA will reslab it without any problems.
