Opinions on Signed 3x5 of Famous Footballer and Golfer Gerald R. Ford

In order to stay on topic I thought the title should reflect sports.

I picked up a small collection of signed index cards, mostly TTMs of common players but of lot of A's I wanted. However there was also this:

I've never collected Presidents and assuming this is probably an autopen but I was hoping that maybe someone who reads here like Navarro might shed some light and maybe have a matching exemplar so I can confirm my suspicion.

It looks good. Ford was a great signer in the mail for many years. He signed for me 5-6 times and for a friend over a dozen.

    Moosedog,

It is an autopen. Here are some Ford autopen patterns. Ford was a prolific signer, but he did use the autopen while he was in office and shortly thereafter. Yours is the second one on the top row. I do have some authentic Ford's available if you are interested in one.

    Take care,

    Mike Navarro

  • I wrote to Ford in the mail in the 90's and I got some signed index cards, a letter and an 8x10 back from him. I have a feeling that the 8 x 10 was autopenned and that the index cards and letters were secretarial. I just can't imagine Gerald Ford having that much time as a retired president to legitmately sign his autograph requests. I'm guessing that most of the Ford signed index cards out there are fakes. I looked on ebay for awhile and people had a hard time selling theirs.

Mike - yep, that's it...thanks for the response and I'll save that pic for future reference.

metrotheme - thanks for the offer but I'm not collecting presidential sigs. This just happened to be in a lot of baseball autographs I recently acquired.
