So has anyone been enticed by the monthly specials?

Or is the anus still on PSA to demonstrate their grading has returned to normalcy?

  • I dont have much modern, but I've got a 10 card sub ready to go.

I have 100 modern cards I will send in on this special. Turn around time doesn't matter to me. The sooner I get it in the sooner the clock starts and eventually some graded cards will be mailed back to me. If I wait until PSA's turn around times are quicker I will just be losing all that time waiting for their turn around times to get better. What's the difference? Cards waiting at my house or cards waiting in PSA's office? What do I care. I love a five dollar modern deal so will be sending my 100+ cards in soon.... Happy Monday!

Sent in cards for my Jordan set... hopefully they won't be so harsh on the modern stuff!

Still wondering why the don't run the modern to the present - why stop it at 2002?

Yea, me too. I have a lot of 2005 - 2008 cards to get graded. I can't understand why they don't include the most recent years. It seems Beckett is PSAs primary competition for modern cards...why wouldn't PSA have a $5 special to retain its modern customers?

I've got 220 cards ready to go but I'm waiting until I do my taxes and take my family vacation before I know what my disposable income is. Maybe send in 30 days or so. I'm satisfied, not really overly happy but satisfied, with my grades from the last three Nov/Dec modern subs so I expect the same from these 200+.

Has anyone e-mailed CS and asked why they don't go all the way to the present??? I might have to stop being lazy and fire one off myself!

I agree here. I missed out on the last $5 special so I've got about 125-150 cards set aside to submit. Thankfully, the majority of what I plan to send in with the special fits in the range of years that the special covers. Most of these are for my registry sets, so I'm in absolutely no hurry to get them back.

  • The day I submit to PSA for grading will be when they drop their stupid "Membership" fee.
In the meantime, I will buy already graded cards of PSA that I like.

has anyone answered the question if the $5 special includes reviews?

<<The day I submit to PSA for grading will be when they drop their stupid "Membership" fee.>>

I've never understood this mentality. The membership practically pays for itself with the free gradings.

It is the principal of the thing
maybe if I had 20 submissions to make it would eventually "Pay" for itself, but what about those of us that only have a "few" cards to get graded? PSA caters to the big guys, with lots of cards to submit and get graded.
And if you look at it that way, the the "free gradings" are not really free are they???

I plan on sitting on the sidelines for awhile. When the longtime submitters confirm they are back to receiving the grades expected, then I'll probably start submitting again.

I plan on taking advantage of the special to send in some cards. Most for re-sale with a few for the registry.

Yes, reviews are allowed on the $5 special. I'm taking advantage of both the $5 and the $12.10 day specials this month in order to send in some cards for review, possible .5 bumps.

You might want to call customer service on that. On the special, it does state that "(*Autographed cards from the manufacturer from 1998 to present are allowed on this special. All other autographed cards must be submitted under the Autographed Card Grading and Authentication service.)"

Seems a little odd that they would accept an auto'd card from 2007, but not a regular one. Somethings listed wrong on that special.

I totally agree. The membership fee pays for itself with the free gradings, and that does not count access to the Pop report and the SMR subscription.

When you really look at it, its not really a membership fee because you get a 6 free voucher grading, so you get to grade 6 cards for 99 bucks, which comes out to a little over $16 each card. Most companies charge that to begin with, after your a member then you get all these good deals!

So, NO, its not a fee you just pay and get nothing for it, you get 6 free gradings. Ok, yeah, it sounds a little dumb to me to charge a fee only togive out free vouchers anyway, but thats how its done for some reason, but you don't pay and not get nothing in return, you just to submitt 6 cards image

  • Does anybody know you get that free nag too? Yeah man, I love that bag, I try to carry it with me sometimes. Its good to attract other collector's and spark up a conversation with them, because automaticly they know you also collect like them. image

  • I would think it would be easier to call customer service than to guess some of these things. image

    Yes, reviews are allowed.
Yes, the special stops at 2002 - that's what we were given so customer service may not be able to give you the reasoning on that.

You can submit manufacture issued autographed cards issued through 2002 on this special.

The Autographed card blurb is always included, as written, when we talk about autographed cards. It is standard since we do have a cut off regarding these cards as to when they have to go through the auto authenticators. If we were to have a special from 2000-2007 the same blurb would appear but that wouldn't mean your could submit cards prior to 2000 on that special.

  • Carol, if I sign up for another year, will I get another bag? I love that bag image lol

I carry it with me on the streets on New York City sometimes, and I get a lot of guys coming up to me and talking about cards, its a great way to meet other collectors, so don't be scared of the bag, use it! image

  • No bags.

  • Nope numero quatro.

I, too, love my PSA man bag.

How can you go from the hardcover coffee table book to the man bag?

Why not just a few extra grading vouchers? Or even a choice would be cool.

    Actually, Carol is REALLY cool.
