whiting out cert #?

I was flipping around in the Collector's Showcase, and I forget which collection it was, but when I clicked on a picture of a card that was listed, the owner had whited out the cert #. Can someone enlighten me why someone would do this? I found it odd, that's all.

Many people do it to prevent someone from trying to add the number to their PSA registry without buying the card. I never found the need to hide the number. On one occassion someone tried to add the number form a card I was selling. But it was no biggie, I just emailed PSA that I still owned the card. Other than that, never had a problem.

I think sometimes people do it so it's harder for others to steal a scan and run a scam auction.

I always white out my cert numbers for this reason exactly.
