Any idea why they end the modern year at 2002? I think last time they stopped it at 2000.

Why not run the modern from '72-present?

That's what I was wondering. I have some 2005 and 2007 rookie cards I want graded. I think its probably because its a registry special and there's not many registry sets after 2002? Just a guess.

I was thinking the same thing... but won't some people start sets if the specials cover all they way till present? I know I have a 2005 set that I'm working on, I'm a little bummed out the special doesn't cover it. PSA is losing easy money, how hard is it to grade a modern card.

Guys, thats a great question, I was thinking the same thing, lol. At least this time I have more cards to send in, but I would have pleanty more if they did it to the present image Most of my cards are 03 to present, lol.

Hopefully one of these days they'll have another deal with 03-04 and so on image

    Still a very great deal!!

    I love specials......

I got about 15-20 cards to submit on the registry special, so this is decent timing.

Hey Justin, thats cool, so does this mean your joining the registry soon? image

I see theres a new guy there, do you know him?

I have about 34 to 36 cards I think for the $5 special. Theres only a month for the $12 special, so i'll probably do that one first. The $5 is good all the way till the end of April.

Alright Justin, hope to see you at the registry pretty soon!

I have about 7 HOF certified autographs which I will be submitting. Unfortunately most of my certified issues are from 2003 on. When they pop back I will put them up on the registry!

  • Yeah I know man, I have a lot of nice cards that are from 2003 and on image I hope they come out with a deal for the rest of the years one day. I was thinking of maybe sending about 10 cards under the $12 special, they only take 10 days to get back, and they cover cards worth up to $500 so thats great because I have a few worth over a $100 so I would have to go with that deal too.

Isen't that Mark guy from the Basketball HOF auto thread? Let me check image

    Giovanni
  • Yeah it is him, lol. Darn, he's catching up to me image He's got 3 and I got 6 image

Got a couple questions about a sub bump submission but didn't want to start a new thread and waste anyone's time. If someone has a chance while you're watching the NCAAs tomorrow, can you please PM and I'll ask my questions. Thanks

I sent it 2 subs and I got slaughtered on both. 30 cards in total, not a single 8.5, and many 8's that should have been 10's or at the very least 9's. They've lost my business for a while after this debacle. It appears as though at least one grader is absolutely clueless. So I wouldn't get too excited abou these specials until you see your results.

The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • I will be doing the same. What I do not understand is, what is set registry? What happens if I receive my cards back and don't enter them in for validation?

It's no big deal. The term set registry special means nothing. It's just a marketing thing. I asked PSA the same question a while back and that's what they told me.

They will bill you for the difference including interest and your oldest son
  • do they really bill you the difference?
Regardless, if the Register section says "add your sets!", I'd assume you have to enter the card submitted, as written on the PSA slab?

You sign up for the registry sets of your choice (players, manufactuer/year, special topic) and then simply enter the cert number off of your slab to receive credit. I only have a few registry sets going, but in reality every card you have graded could fall into one set or another.

By the way I had a super fast return on my registry special submission. Unfortunately the submission is faster than the 7 day turnaround I sent in around the same time for my yearly 6 free with renewal.

    Date Received: 3/8/2008

    Date Shipped: 3/19/2008

    Order Status: Shipped

That is odd, usually the renewal freebies get done really fast.

    Good for you.
  • Justin, you did a $5.00 special?

If so, how many cards? And how long did it take?

Congrats on the registry set! image Now you got has much cards as me image I gotta send in at least one to beat you! image

See above for the time frame. I sent in 16 cards on this submission. Only 5 for the Basketball HOF registry. The rest were some random cards I had laying around for my personal collection.
  • what if one does not. For example, I have a 1999 Pokemon Ancient Mew I Japanese Promo card that does not fit under any category. I select 1999 Pokemon holifoils, and it will not accept it.

I know nothing about Pokemon cards, or for that matter what is a Pokemon Mew.

I would e-mail PSA and see if they could add it to some sort of master set.
  • I did email them, thank you.
I'm not a Pokemon collector, but I was in the late 1990's when the phenomenon hit the United States. I managed to get my hands on one of the imported Ancient Mews from Japan, worth far more than the Ancient Mews passed out at the Pokemon-The First Movie! in 2000. I figured since I was submitting a handful of cards, I wanted it protected for good, as well as hoping a high grade would fetch the card some money. As a PSA 9 (which it received) its about a $150 card.

I still don't know what an ancient Mew is or any of this other anime stuff, but it sounds like you did well image
  • Hey everybody!

    Justin,

Are you kidding? You don't know what an ancient mew is? Whats wrong with you? image Just kidding, not to sure myself, but I think its that card they gave out in the movies???

I have one of those 5,000 count box were you store cards, and theres about 500 Pokemon cards there, many of those nice holo cards and stuff. Is there any Pokemon people out there?

I sometimes think of getting some of those cards graded. Do you think its worth it?
