Archival, non-pvc, 2x2, two-pocket flips with white inserts. The insert contains the attribution and other information. Storage is in 2x2 double-row cardboard boxes, the red long ones (holds about 250, more or less).
Ancients must be gone through once and awhile, to make sure the dreaded bronze disease has not set in on the AE coins. I also use RENWAX on uncleaned coins that I have cleaned, before placing in a flip (called flipping).

Agree with Johnsim; I use 2x2-sized rigid mylar flips. Some ancients are still in the 2x2 I bought them in, but when I get some of that "free time" I hear other people talk about, I'm going to move them all over to the flips.
2x2's are generally poor for ancients, because most of them have low rims and high relief. This makes it difficult to actually see the coin through the warped plastic, and certainly makes it harder to get a good picture or scan.
For me, the 2x2s and 2x2-sized flips then go in an album containing pages intended for photographic slides. The same size, and normally made of much better quality plastic, than the ones designed for coins.

How many 2x2's can you fit per page? I take it these are then placed in a 3-ring binder or something similar... which would make it easy to trasport without having the coins moved around had they been in a coin tray, loose.
Who sells the pages?
Thanks for the replies. I'm looking for a safe way to store (for personal enjoyment) and transport the coins to/from shows.

As far as 2x2 pages goes, it is hard to get them cheaper than this:
In any case, each page holds 20 2x2 cards or flips. Any 3-ring binder will do...
For travel to shows, you could search on eBay for 60-coin capacity (2x2) coin wallets, but, be advised, these are ALL vinyl and are not collector safe for more than the short term...
Hope this helped a bit.

Yes, it fits 20 per page, then goes into an album. I prefer to use the completely enclosed archival albums made of rigid plastic - they're not airtight, but they keep out the dust, bugs and anything else unwanted, and if a coin happens to fall out of the album, it doesn't get lost.
A large photographic supply store nearby still sells the pages, but the albums seem to have gone out of style; this is the brand they sell and I've had no problems with them. With the effective extinction of photographic slides brought on by the digital age, places that sell this stuff are getting harder to find; the smaller camera stores normally no longer stock them. Buying online might be easiest.

I used to use the Littleton album, which is pretty good, and fairly advanced. But it's emperors only, and I branched out into the empresses as well.
The album cost me forty bucks, which was a tad pricey, but it was a nice album. I only used it a couple months and it's still like new.
Twenty bucks, anyone?
(Edit: of course that's just Roman Imperial coins. If you're into Roman Republic or Greek or Byzantine or other civilizations, you'll wanna go custom with your own album in pocket pages, probably, like I ended up doing.)
I've also seen some really classy collections displayed in the AirTite holders, with nice trays for the holders.
My Roman coin collection is now housed in a nice red leather zipper binder with brass corners. The pages are standard 20-pocket mylar, and the flips are rigid 2x2 Saflip brand.

eBay Link
though these are really flimsy and are sometimes a really tight fit!
The "old standard" would be more expensive, but better - here is where I buy most of my supplies:
