My First Coin - The One That Started It All

I took advantage of the PCGS Free Quarterly Grading Special and had this 1/4 Eagle graded and TrueViewed.
It was given to my father by his father as a graduation present, who in turn gave it to me before he passed.
I have long since succumbed to the powers of the Darkside, but this is where it all started:

To me, eventhough I am a Darksider, this is the world's most beautiful coin. I wish there were more coins with a incuse design (totally incuse). Excellent coin you have there!

That's a beautiful coin and this could be a great thread.

What first sparked your interest in numismatics???

For me, it was a just 5 years ago. With nothing to do on a slow Sunday morning, I decided to accept the invitation of a neighbor to attend a local auction (he collected military memorabilia). When I saw all those shiny coins and started asking questions about their history, I was hooked. After that, I started reading history books on the period I was interested in and began to learn about grading and numismatics in general. It was a steep learning curve and I've enjoyed it tremendously. One of my first purchases was a 1904 USPI Peso and it has remained my icon since the day I joined this fine forum.
