Deceptive Fakes: A Sobering Reminder from CRO that There Are Things Worse Than Doctored Coins

This from CRO’s Road Report http://www.coinraritiesonline.com

<< <i> But one of the coins we had committed to buy yesterday got uncommitted real fast when it got rejected by the grading service as NG. As in No Good. Fake. Counterfeit. Bogus. And while that was interesting, it was also terrifying, as several of us looking at it (and a bunch of other dealers experienced in this area who saw it) thought it was as real as can be, and only a few wondered if it was a little too good to be true. Which it was. Highlighting once again that the services' guarantee of authenticity is a pretty handy thing. >>

don't suppose there's any chance the expert dealers were right and infallible grading service was wrong?

After seeing the counterfeit operations thread earlier it is scary and one more reason to use a company like PCGS where authenticity is guaranteed.

The OP was so vague as to be worthless. At least tell us what the coin was and show us some pics. In the US gold arena, very high quality counterfeits have been around for several decades so this is nothing new.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
