At least it appears to be a vintage thing. It would totally be whacked if that seller's other lots showed he had a factory set up making lighters from common date silver dollars or something.
ok you knew it was coming.............................................ah the bay.

Hi guys, I collect Items that have been made from Morgan and peace dollars and I just had to have this one! I found some stuff out that may just bore you to death. The coin has been notched out and after searching for more info I came accross this 1890 and after e-mailing them I found out that is a D mint mark on the back of a 1890 Morgan. Every knows they didnt have a D mint mark untill 1921 so this tells me they are useing two deferent coins and notching a cavity between the coins to fit the fluid and lighter components or there would be no room, the lighter is only the width of two full morgan dollars put together. Knowing this I hope the front coin of the 1922 lighter was not the same vam as the back or thats twice the Horror!!! David
The lighter itself looks pretty old, maybe even back then in the 20s? Unless it was during the depression, years later you couldn't give them away. At least not unless you were giving them to kids for various occasions. And VAM was a totally unknown curiosity anyway.
