Live report from the floor at Baltimore--the bourse is RAGING

I'm here at Baltimore and just got out of Rob Rhue's lecture (which was great). The bourse is RAGING. It took me a few hours to get to see Doug Winter and the place is packed. I am about to do something that has never been done before at a coin show-- I'm going to body surf over to the Stack's table and see if my beloved QDB is here.

Full report later.

Is it true that QDB and Harvey Stack are having a break dance contest on the bourse floor???

Are the crowds coin collectors or bullion sellers?

looking forward to your well written, colorful, and humorous report.

i just thought that when longacre walked down a pathway crowds
parted like the red sea for moses.

do not they recognize your greatness?

maybe you should try tossing 100 dollar bills to the left and right
to clear the path and this will teach the peons to jump like pavlov's
dogs when a bell is rang.

Thanks for the update. It will be interesting to see the dealer reports. I wonder if all of those people are actually buying?

The market is bulging, bilging, purging, roaring

as well as roiling. Does this mean its a good thing

    or a bad thing?image

Good for the market, bad for long time collectors who can't afford to keep up. image

When are we going to hear that complete report from interviewing many of the CAC heavy hitters?

  • I just wish I had thought of that 'body surfing' line.
  • Sounds like there was a coin show going on and a mosh pit broke out! LOL!

Sounds like this is a good the time to be NOT buying coins, if past is prologue.

If this is anything like the coin show in St. Louis the bulk of the activity is dealer to dealer, or at least that's what it seemed like to me.

I have my handwritten notes from the day. I just need to write up a first draft and then begin the editing process. At the latest it will be Monday.

Way to go Longacre. You have arrived my boy!!! A nice example of a Middle to Late die state of the S-148 with the obverse cud. First hair style. large 8, and spur on the 9 are diagnostics of the variety.

nice large cent Longacre and above the ONE on the reverse, it looks as if there is die clashing or am I seeing things?

This coin is quality for the grade... well done...
