Has any one taken Richard Nachbar up on his "Trade for Gold!" offer?
I saw his ad in CW and looked it up on his website "Trade for Gold!" and wondered if any one has taken him up on his offer to trade in coins for gold bullion?

If I was at an elderly age this would sound enticing. Heck if I had some junk coins I did not want waste time on e-bay with I might even consider it.

<< <i>back in 2002 or 2003 I traded a few keys for saints when he first offerd this. I must admit I was skeptical, but it out performed even his perdictions
I wonder now though, if it's a little late in the game to jump in?

no, but you will get less now then I did back then. Might be a mute point I just made though as the coins were not worth as much a few years back when I decided to cash in.

I've got an awful lot of widgets, many worth a fair amount.
I think I will be giving them a call next Monday.
I just wonder if he's only interested in high end numismatic specimens?

I've wondered the same thing. If you call, post what you find out.

I looked him up at a FUN show about 5-6 years, after seeing his ads and thinking what great guy he must be....I had a some misc semi key and decent middle grade type coins with me. After spending nearly 30 seconds examining them, he said he doesn't handle this material, and I should take them to a dealer who handles 'collector coins'. Maybe he's mellowed since then, and I don't think he's trying to rob widows and orphans, but I assure you he is no philanthropist, either.
after a huge run-up in price is going to get a big GFY from me.

yeah, i wonder what value he would put on anything you might be trading in to him -- probably better to sell the coins yourself and then buy bullion if that's what you want to do.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
I would tend to agree. And this "trade" for gold is certainly a taxable event because bullion IS cash. There are hundreds of others out there who predicted the same bull market for gold.

I've never made a deal with Richard but I speak with him at every coin show. I think he is one of the most honest and forthright people around. I'm pretty sure he takes everything, widgets included.
