Long Beach show turnaround times?..

Hi..

two wees ago yesterday, i plunked myself down at the PCGS tables at the Long Beach show and filled out three submission forms.. since it's been years since i self-submitted at a show, i have some questions.. be gentle..

1 - Form #1 - my 10nd Anniversary Platinum Eagle set.. i paid extra for five-day turnaround and "First Strike (sealed box)" labels.. the submission was done at the show on 14 February, 2008.. it shows they were entered into the system on 18 February, 2008, and i got the slabs back by First Class Registered mail almost a week ago.. (PR69 DCAM First Strike on the regular Proof.. PR70 First Strike on the Reverse Proof)..

b - Form #2 - my free quarterly special (raw in the Mint capsule.. 2007 Jamestown Gold Unc.).. this one shows it was entered into the system on 21 February, 2008.. no results yet..

III - Form #3 - four cross-over slabs, (not crack-outs).. submitted to cross at their existing grades or better.. an (old) NGC, two (old) ANACS, one SEGS.. this form also shows it was entered into the system on 21 February, 2008.. no results yet..

submission form #2 was a freebie.. form #3 counted as four out of the eight "free" submissions from joining at the Platinum level.. so i have four "free" submissions left, good for the next year..

first question: did anyone reading this submit at the show under "regular service" or whatever they call it and if so, have you gotten grades yet or even gotten your slabs (or body bags) back yet?..

given the date i submitted them in person, and the date (21 February, 2008).. that they showed up online in their system (they are marked as "ok").. when can i expect grades to show up online on the Jamestown and the four cross-overs?.. next week? the week after? some time before the sun explodes?..

second question: generally speaking, what are my chances the four slabs will cross at the existing grade?.. what are my chances any of them will cross at a higher grade?..
in other words, assuming they were accurately graded by the other guys, what percentage of other guys' slabs typically cross into PCGS plastic at the same grade?.. what percentage cross at a higher grade?.. what percentage get the dreaded "DNC"?..

i didn't want any of them to downgrade, which is why i submitted them the way i did.. cross at a minimum of their existing grades..

i'm squirming to know the results.. one of them (which i'll reveal later), if it upgrades one point, goes from a Price guide of $175.00 to $5000.00 (MS67 to MS68).. because its current MS68 population is three.. i just had to try because what the Hell.. i couldn't tell a 67 from a 68.. is a cross-over from an NGC 67 to a PCGS 68 a pipe dream or a possibility?..

so.. if any of you submitted in person at the Long Beach show two weeks ago for "standard" or "regular" service, or whatever they call it.. have you gotten grades yet?.. or am i just being premature and it's gonna be another week or two?..

by the way, i was schmoozing through the "public" submissions on the shared order page and i can't believe how many people submit coins that get body-bagged.. for every reason you can name - altered surfaces, rim dings, questionable color, cleaned, you name it.. plow through those and you'll find things, for example, like a single submission of up to ten or more coins where ALL but one got body-bagged.. is it because collectors simply can't tell a luster-less cleaned coin when they see one?.. seems like an awful lot of money is wasted trying to get "problem" coins into PCGS slabs.. i can only imagine the expression on someone's face when they see results like that.. saw one where someone had submitted something like a common-date, nothing special about it Jefferson Nickel or Kennedy Half out of a nothing special regular Proof set.. and and it got slabbed 62.. i mean.. why even bother?.. are folks trying to play some "out-guess the grader" or what am i missing?.. i'm trying to be kind / generous and not call anyone a fool.. but what's up with that?.. image

Thanks
Harv
