Best impulse buy.....no regrets!!!

I did a little searching on ebay while most people were driving home from work or cooking dinner tonight, and found this card at around $340.00 with only 16 minutes left in the auction. I threw a pitty bid in of $375.00 knowing I wouldnt win (I have seen PSA 7s go for this sometimes). Well I walked away for a little while and returned to my computer about a half hour later to find out that I had won it for $366 and some change. I was extremely happy to say the least!!! Just thought I'd share.

You're right about that Allen. I sold all of my low and mid grade Mantles to pay for my 1955 Topps set, and it was hard to part with a couple of them. Up until tonight, the only high grade Mantle I had was the one in my 1964 Topps Giants set. I figured I had to have atleast 1 nice regular issue Mick, and seeing how he is'nt in the 55 set, this one will be good enough for me.

image Jake, its funny you say that because the thought did cross my mind.
No, I wont be doing this set. I am still toying with doing a 1957 or a 1963 set. The sucky thing about buying this card is, I know that a beautifully centered 55 Yogi Berra PSA 6 is gonna pop up on ebay any time now and I will have to pass on it.
  • Very nice, it was a steal. I actually picked that up in a 5 this week. Not as nice as yours, but it has good eye appeal, the background on the 68's really masks the corner wear on mine.

    Bob,

That Berra is a pain in the butt! I have been keeping my eyes open for you,I haven't seen
    one in a 6 yet.

BTW sweet Mays you won the other night.image

I bid $345 on that. Didn't want to bid more because of the top to bottom centering but it is a good price for the card. I wonder how much psa 8.5's will sell for.
  • Very nice card! I've always liked that set image

I think a card like that should be like $700 IMO.

That's a good looking card and I think ya got a good deal.

It's one of my favorite Mick cards - tho I don't own one.

Congratulations on picking up a sweet Mick!

  • Great pickup. That was my first Mick card (but not even close to that condition- I was 8 when I got it-that's the only common thing I have with the card you just won).
