A huge dilemma regarding my 7070 and a gold piece

My 7070 is coming along great, but now I am short on funds for awhile while I save up some money. Here is my situation. The Saint slot is empty. The only other slots to fill on the gold page are the dollar slots. What I have is a 1908 no motto in a PCGS MS64 slab. I could easily just crack that out and be done with it, but I just can't bring myself to crack a 64 coin out of a PCGS. Had it been in a turd world one like NNC, ACG, HPV, HIV or STD slab I'd have no problem, but this is the nicest coin I own. Should I just throw caution to the wind and crack it out for the 7070 or should I just sit back and save money for a different Saint? I should have the money for another by the summer barring a historic rise in gold.

Take a picture of the coin and post the image in the slot. That's what I've done with some of my slabbed coins.
the album, you should have no problem storing it there. cracking
it out will only cost approx 20-30 dollars in lost grading fees/shipping.
but!
if you have butter fingers, small kids viewing the album or able to poke at it, or an environment that just has a high risk of causing
a general ruckus to all things in it, keep it in the slab.
it just all depends on the variables of your household.
me? i have the butter fingers problem. i do not trust myself holding
coins raw unless i can risk dropping it. at coin stores i do not even handle
coins unless over a soft pad with the dealer next to me.
I never realized that putting together a 7070 could be such a daunting task in better grades until I started. I fill like I've filled a ton of slots, but I'm only halfway there.

It's only an opinion but I say go for it.
The value will most likely increase so you have nothing to lose by purchasing an extra.

<< <i>More good points. I may just leave it slabbed and get another one. The Buffalo T1 spot is empty too and I have a PCGS MS65 one that has amazing color, but I'm not going to crack it out. That's an easy hole to fill though. >>
My point was basically trying to save you $1000. If the bullion price pulls back and the price of the 08 NM falls also then it might be worth getting a second one. Just not sure where your collecting priorities are with regards to finances.
If so, then I would definitely crack it out, put it in your album and I'm sure you'll get more enjoyment from seeing your gold page complete than a plastic ms64 slab.

You do make a good point. Not to mention $1,000 could fill alot of other spots in the 7070. Finances are OK and I'm getting a nearly 20% pay raise in July. I got the MS64 for $1,100 when gold was at $900 and other ones I have watched on ebay to gauge value is it's went anywhere from $150-300 over spot so it has a little numismatic value. I may take your advice and see what happens. Save up a grand for the sumer. If it drops then get another Saint. If gold continues its accent then I'll break out the hammer and perform a coinectomy on the slab.

<< <i>I wish I had those kinds of "problems"
I hear ya. I wasn't blessed a decade ago like I am now. My job has paid off. Seventeen years ago I took a job as a guard at a prison that no one wanted to work at making small change. Five years later I transferred to a juvenile facility and my pay raises have been nice since that move. Now the state has separated juvenile from adult divisions and they plan on giving us juvi security a handsome raise in July since this job now requires a bachelor's degree. The woman I married in 2000 is an RN and RNs do pretty well. We met by small chance. Not bragging because I probably make less than most here, but just explaining that my financial blessing from the last decade are from simply being at the right place at the right time. We aren't rich by any means. We just don't spend alot of money and I am so glad I have a low maintenance wife who's very money concious and would rather have a well funded 401k than a fancy SUV.

Personally I think inflation can only get worse and that gold will eventually hit 2 grand so I wouldn't sell any gold now unless I had 30 or 70 ounces (or a significant percentage of my wealth), but hey, I'm often wrong and if shelling out an extra grand means you have to skip a special night out with your wife I'd probably vote for the night with the wife.
