SGC Grading- cross over special

Has anyone used the cross over special for vintage cards? I want to see some results on some quality cards. My take on them is that their post war grading is all over the place. Just my opinion. Let's see some results.

Although they weren't crossovers, I was not very happy:

    thread
  • I have 3 orders in over there (as well as 4 reg in at psa), they are all vintage 1887 to 1937 cards thou so not sure if thats what you are looking for. That said there has a been a couple threads over there on 1957 Topps Baseball and 1971 Topps Football and all the cards graded looked to be done very accurate.

I saw BobS thread and I felt all the cards looked about right other than the aaron looked like a 5 not a 4. That said i can count how many times i get a sub back from psa and feel the same way, I have resubmitted a bunch and even had one come back 3 grades higher the next time, which was where I though it should have been in the first place.

I have never had a submission take longer than promised...and most a little earlier.

thanks i am considering to start submitting to them also
  • I can let you know about turnarouns soon. I have an sgc sub that is a 30 day sub which is next wed and another 10 days after that. I have a psa that is already 3 days late (45 day bulk) and I just got in a 10 day sub that took 14 days from psa, excluding shipping..

I'm tempted to send in those 58's I posted on the board, but I'll probably just resubmit at a later point.

What I'm talking about is high end Mantle, Mays, Aaron etc. I have not witnessed much success in these areas. I want to see someone post results with high end Mantle cards crossed to SGC.

SGC will always be faster..They do A LOT less business than PSA in the grading room...

My turn around was right on time, but I used a the next day special. I currently have a 20 day submission on day 13 so I'll report back next Friday on that. As far as the grades my 1961 Mantle came back 84 (=PSA 7) and the 1962 Mantle came back 80 (=PSA 6). Comparing these to a 1960 Mantle PSA 6 I bought last week, if graded by PSA my guess is an 8 on the 61, and 7 (maybe 7.5) on the 62. I am 100% certain I am not crossing over the 1960 to SGC. I know these aren't thehigh end Mantle examples that you were looking for but I hope my limited experience can help.

  • No crossover, but I sent them 13 cards on their
$5 special/20 business days. I expect it to be done
in 3 weeks. They're pretty quick. 1 card is just for AUTH only.

I haven't sent in crossovers, but I find their grading to be VERY accurate on the graded cards I've purchased.

  • The 71 Topps Football thread over there was mine. Those cards were purchased already graded and I am quite happy with them.
I do currently have 27 1971 Topps FB cards (PSA 8's) submitted for the $5.00 crossover Special. I will post results.
