Ahhhh . . . The Agony of Incrementally Creeping Towards 8.0

Ignore the wacky set rating since the database is still making errors. However, I just upgraded eight PSA 8 commons in my 1951 Bowman set to PSA 9 and moved from a weighted GPA of 7.96 up to 7.97 Man, I have even more respect for the people who have their whole set at a weight of 8.0 or higher.

    Vargha - You have an unbelievable set. You'll make it, you're committed, and just think. . . you only have, what, about 30 or so more commons to upgrade to 9s image Wait, is that even possible with the '51s?

    Merkel has about 130 different PSA 9's from that set. His is a phenomenal collection.

    Yeah, Merkel's sets are beast in and of themselves. With his 9s, I didn't know if you could possibly pick up that many more 9s. That's why I was asking if it was possible, but I should have asked if it was currently possible.

    It is definitely possible to get that many more 9's. As mikeschmidt said on another thread, all it takes is money and patience. My one PSA 6 card is Mantle. When I upgrade it to a PSA 7, that will have the same effect on set GPA as adding ten PSA 9's. I am in no hurry. I was simply reiterating my respect for those who have gotten complete sets with grades that high. From my personal experience, it is quite an endeavor.

    I didn't know that were that many 9s available for the '51 set. Things have kind of been hectic around here. I had a client pass away this week and it has been a difficult loss. You definitely will move up when you upgrade the Mantle.

    I feel your pain. My 1974 set has been at 7.99 GPA for weeks. I've added, upgraded, and updated and still no 8.00 GPA.
