Melt of 2008, what Commems are targeted?

All-

I was very interested in the Melt of 2008 article, do we know all of the comeems that will be targeted?

My favorites would be the Franklins (both types), Marine, and of course the Jefferson. Anyone??

Due to the premiums above the intrinsic metal content and with the millions of bullion ASE's minted annualy, I doubt many silver commemorative issues are being melted in the way the gold and platinum coins are.

I'm with Buff on this one. If there's a need to melt Silver, ASEs would probably be the ticket...

Still thinking about the commems. The only example I can think of in Silver would be the Little Rock one.

    Just a thought.

They would only target those commems with silver or gold content. I think they would stay away from the clad half dollar commems. image

The only silver commemoratives which would be melted would be:

    50C:

    G. Washington

    $1:

    Constitution

    Statue of Liberty

    Some of the Olympic

Any gold commemorative made at lower gold prices than current is up for melting. If you need to pay for heat in the winter or food on the table and you got that old gold, you melt it. I know this seems shocking to some here, but survival is a pretty strong instinct.

I don't think there are any silver commemoratives issued for under $20 but I might be wrong. If there are, then they could get melted too.
