Had a lunch appt added to my calendar about 100 min before the end of an auction today - for an 1807 DBHE half from the Upstate NY cache. It was bid to low $200's and I really like these hoard coins. And, I prefer to snipe. But I put down a bid before I left for lunch in the mid $300's and hoped I could make it back in time. No luck - 3 min late and out bid by one other. Had I sniped it last second, good chance for a rip. Ugh. Then I got cheap on the 1813 CBH that followed and lost that one too.
I am a little less upset than I used to be about missed opportunities.
Aside, I am still surprised that the NY hoard coins aren't more popular.

I can't tell you how many times I've missed an auction because I was studying. I've learned to set alarms, etc to make sure I get them. It sucks, I've been there.

...and with all due respect...I'm glad you missed it...
...cause I'm the lucky winner!!! On that new site...you know the one...
...winning bid of $675... also won a 1936-D from the same seller that looks like an AU-50 for $75...
...check that new site out folks...but please leave some coins for me...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free

Some auctions end while I'm at school and I don't realize it, and I never even get a bid off.

Sorry for the loss

To be sure. Plenty of Washington 32 Ds come to market. Not to fret.

And you might save money. These are relatively common, and I would rather get one at a coin show so I could see it in hand.

Congrats on the neat coin. Just though this was a weird coincidence.
Check the PM I sent you.
