The NCS guarantee - why bother?

LakesammmanLakesammman Posts: 17,460 ✭✭✭✭✭
I bought a 5-figure "splasher" the other day - wouldn't fit in the holder so it was issued a photo-guarantee.

$100?? Is it the same for slabbed coins by NCS?? image

They should get a bigger slab for odd sized items.

They had a chance, but passed!

Actually, it's the same with PhotoCert NGC and (I think) GSA coins as well. If they can't be sealed there really is not gaurantee.

  • Is it stickerable? Isnt that all that really matters anyway?

edited to add: Got a pic of the "splasher"? Just curiosity.

I presented NGC with an alternative slab for holdering large medals (well, actually anything that didn't fit into their regular holders or multi-holders). Everyone that has seen them were very enthusiastic about them. However, the financial person ended up being in charge of the project and never even bothered to return any of my calls or emails to discuss it. We never got into a cost conversation. We offered them ways to seal the slab so that it was tamper evident and if they didn't like those, had a list of other alternatives, but again, without the person responsible for the decision ever taking the effort to return any of my attempts to contact her, the project fell apart.

Guess the top people at NGC feel that a photo is a better gaurantee than a protective plastic case.

A very big disappointment in that 3 top people at NGC were very interested in moving forward with this product.

We had made a space on the front for them to place their insert. They even agreed to use some of my medals for marketing purposes and I had some of them holdered. I should have taken them from them at FUN, but I decided to let them send them to me. After FUN and before they sent them back, the decision was made not to use these and they removed all of the tamper evident seals.

The $100 limit for the guaranty of authenticity is bullsh*t.

    Agree with Andy.

Does anyone know if the guarantee is different for a coin in a NCS holder?
