    I threw away a PROOF-65 $4 Stella..

    Worth $65K as a "5" at the time - today, a 66 easily. >>

More likely it was stolen by your (16 year old son) and you just assumed that you through it in the trash.

I guess my accidentally putting a ding in my proof 1970-S small date Lincoln cent doesn't really compare to the Stella story. I am having a hard time getting my mind around that. image

Anyone know of any good detectors that

    A) Filter out everything but gold and mostly importantly
    B) Can detect stuff up to 100 feet underground?

What you need here is a Stella detector. It wouldn't be all that expensive either. You could just go to the store and ask for a "four dollar detector."

Tried dipping a very dark gem unc. 1884 Seated quarter after NCS declined to do it. I didn't do the coin any justice. Sold it as is for MS-60 money.imageimage

In my metal detecting days, I gouged a 1906 D dime that looked like it was lost in 1906. The coin was underneath tree roots in Denver's City Park and I got impatient trying to get it out resulting in a big gouge on the reverse of a coin that was otherwise perfect.

"Uncirculated" 1906 D dime accidently damaged by me,the nicest condition Barber coin I ever found.

Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
