I just jumped on the Coinzip.com bandwagon! C'mon over!

My first auctions are up on the new site!
Free shipping and handling to my fellow Coinzip newbies!
I am not affiliated with the site (except as a new seller), but after investigating it and going through the simple registration and the relatively straightforward auction listing process, I'm giving it my full endorsement. I was not asked to give this endorsement, nor am I being compensated for it- I am doing so voluntarily.
Come join up- it won't cost you anything. Even a year from now, when the site has grown and they start charging sellers, there will only be a low flat monthly fee, period. (If I understood what I read correctly).
Are you boycotting eBay? Or just tired of the fees and the growing complexity of the listing process there? Or just wanna try something new, for the heck of it? Come on in, the water's fine!
"Why would I list my coins on a new auction site nobody's heard of?", you might ask.
It's a valid question. Just remember, everybody's gotta start somewhere, and eBay needs some healthy competition. Not that this little site will be in eBay's league for a long, long time, if ever, but if enough eBay members start using other sites, it'll help balance the scales, I think. Ebay's had too much of a monopoly for too long.
If for no other reason, you should support Coinzip as a favor to your fellow Collectors Universe member who started it. There are lots of venues out there, including plenty of big ones, but let's help give one of the "little guys" a start. I see at least one other CU member climbed aboard before I did.
Maybe just list some stuff you'd be selling here on BST, anyway. You can start the auction at whatever price you choose.
Or give a Coinzip seller a bid or two. (Whether or not that seller happens to be me.)
I just listed my first few auctions on a whim. Do I expect an amazing response to them? No. But I just listed stuff I would've stuck here on BST, anyhow. And now I have them linked in two places: there and here. Extra exposure can't hurt.
I do like that I can run longer auctions and/or automatically relist up to 100 times. I was thinking of opening an eBay store to put all my longterm, slower-moving stuff in, but this is better, because it is FREE.
Tell 'em LordM sent you.

(OK, I heard you yawning out there. Yeah, you. Aww, c'mon... try to be nice, eh?)

BTW, Lord M, how did you know I was snoring? As a compliment to you, I got through at least 1/3 of your post before crashing.

If we give it support and spread the word that there is an alternative site to Ebay... especially if you sell on Ebay. Why not mention on your Ebay auctions that you also have other interesting coins at COINZIP.com then we might just attract enough people from Ebay who buys coins to check it out and join Coinzip so we can sell without Ebays exorbitant fees? Just my two cents.
<< <i>Hmm, I suppose there always has to be one....I inquired and didn't have as much luck as you all did. Unfortunately, I wasn't all that impressed. >>
Didn't have much luck with what?
If you weren't impressed, that's perfectly understandable. There are so many different venues and so little time, so who wants to frequent a brand-new site? It's like going to a newly-opened store to find most of the shelves are still empty.
These things take time.
It won't be right for everyone, and it won't replace eBay. I still intend to surf eBay when I need something specific. But for selling my inexpensive world coins, I think it will be a good fit, since I was planning to do an eBay store, anyway. But will the world coins sell there? Good question. That remains to be seen. I do not expect an overwhelming response, particularly as I don't know how many foreign users coinzip has, if any. The global spread of eBay is what made it THE place to sell foreign coins, which often end up going back to collectors in the country that issued them.
At least I've got a place to stockpile stuff now and a "store" to play with, without having to pay a bunch of fees.
<< <i>>>>I think the bottom line is.Will your coins sell.I will take the wait and see,and watch your coins listed<<<

That is not recommended, as it is against eBay policy, and will cause your listings on eBay to be summarily yanked...
The only place for outside links on eBay is the "My eBay" page, and there are rules for that, too...

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
I also figured I would make reference to Coinzip in an ebay auction or two but not a link so as not to offend the 800lb gorilla.
We should give it a chance by generating some momentum now.
Aside, I understand that there are one or two other forum members looking to start their own sites. Seems a shame that their efforts are not combined as this would seem to really help jumpstart the mo' and increase the likelihood of success for all!
I plan to put my holey Bust half collection up for sale there. I was doing a date set of holed Bust halves but decided I need the money and I have too many projects going. I might also abandon my Seated Liberty dime love token date set in order to maintain focus on my primary set: the Roman coins.
Is it secure when logging in?
Just curious... I haven't joined & probably won't until it becomes a secure site.

Here is a graph that shows the traffic by months. CoinZip started measuring traffic on Dec 1st 2007 so I can only show you 3 months.
The blue number is unique visitors, the green number is pages.
So far in Feb there has been 24,522 visitors that looked at 102,619 pages.
Traffic is one thing, selling an item is another. There is a counter on the Auction home page that keeps track of the number of items sold & dollar ammount.
60 items totaling $2,994.58 sold since 01/18/2008 (the Online Auctions launched Jan 18th 2008)
RJ
610 items totaling $33,319.45 sold since 01/18/2008
Total value of items listed $823,146.18
